Hi I'm Scott

I'm a husband and a father. I work in city government. I love college sports and golfing. Also, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My profession is in city government. I'm currently a City Administrator in Utah. I love my job which allows me to be a part of the community in which I live. I like following college athletics especially BYU Football and Basketball. I also like to play basketball and golf. I have a goal of golfing every golf course in the State of Utah. Sometimes I get crazy ideas in my head like hiking the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim or finishing a marathon. I've been able to accomplish both of those, but not without a huge challenge to get it done. I love being around people and getting to know others. I have met a lot of wonderful people in my life both Mormon and non-Mormon and have found these friendships to be worth more than anything monetary. I love life and cherish the opportunites and blessings I have.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a strong LDS family. I appreciate my parents for teaching me the proper way to act, to love and to serve. However I needed to figure out for myself what is the truth. After high school, I went away to college. It was then that I needed to find out how I was going to live my life. Was I going to attend church? Was I going to find out what I truly believed? I always went back to my roots. I always went back to what I had been taught. I served a mission for my church. I preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through that process I gained a testimony for myself of the truthfulness of the Gospel. I continue to learn more and more. I have found that serving others helps bring me closer to Christ. I also have gained an appreciation for the scriptures and the words of latter-day prophets. They help keep me grounded in the things that are really important. I also find that praying is a source of peace and comfort. I know that I'm not alone in this quest to become a better person and I'm truly grateful for the many blessings that I've been given.

How I live my faith

I live my faith with my family. I love being a father and a husband. I have a wonderful wife who is very supportive of me and our family. Spending time with my family is the best use of time that I can participate in. We try to do fun things as a family, but we also spend time together learning more about the gospel and helping each other grow. Having kids has been the biggest blessing in my life. Serving and loving them is very rewarding. It helps me understand the love my parents had for me and the love that my Heavenly Father has for me as well. I love serving in the church. I'm currently a Ward Clerk which is someone who helps keep some of the administrative side of the church functioning. But, I also get spiritual satisfaction in knowing that in some ways my calling is to assist others. One thing I love about the church is the opportunity to do various things. I've had other callings in which I've gotten to participate in other aspects of the church. Each calling has allowed me to learn and grow in ways I wouldn't have without that particular responsibility. As members of the church we are truly working together for a common goal: To return to our Father in Heaven and his Son, Jesus Christ with our families. There is nothing more important in this world.
