Hi I'm Trulan James Rockwood

I love my family, movies and music. I'm currently serving in the Lubbock Texas Spanish Speaking mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary in the Lubbock Texas Spanish speaking mission. I love music and come from a very musical family. I've taught myself how to play the guitar and I love it! I am a student at Brigham Young University Idaho. I was the ASB president of my high school and was on the varsity track team where I found that I love to jump! I competed in the long, high, and triple jump events and had so much fun! It’s an activity I still like to practice often. I love spending time with my family and my friends. We watch movies together more than anything else. I am the designated popcorn popper in my house because, to be honest, I make a real good batch of popcorn. I never get sick of plugging my iPod in and blasting music through my skull candy headphones. Especially while riding my red banana skate board. I am a regular guy that finds comfort in a long hug from a good friend, a song that even after 100 listens still touches me, and finding help for any situation in the Book of Mormon every time I read from its pages.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. I come from a home where the principles of the gospel were taught to me throughout my life. I relied on the testimonies and beliefs of my older siblings and parents until the day I found out for myself. When I was 14 years old in my freshman year of high school, I took a church offered scripture study class during the day. That year we were studying the history of the church and early on we talked and learned about the prophet Joseph Smith and how the original gospel of Jesus Christ was re-established through him. Our teacher had us watch a short 30 minute movie about the event when Joseph saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. As a young boy, the same age as Joseph, the Spirit bore witness to me right then and there, that Joseph’s vision did indeed occur and because of that, the true church of Jesus Christ was again on the earth. That night I prayed heavily to my Father in Heaven asking Him if the feelings I had were right and if it was all true. I again felt all the same feelings I had earlier that day and I knew that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, that Jesus is the Son of God and that this is His church.

How I live my faith

Well, right now all I do is live my faith. As a called full time volunteer missionary, I study, practice and live my faith 24/7. I always wear my black name tag that displays my name and the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I study His gospel through the Book of Mormon daily. I teach others about His gospel and try to help them come closer to Him through faith and repentance. Before my mission, I worked with the missionaries often, helping them teach lessons and do acts of service for those in my town. Being in a very service oriented church has given me numerous opportunities to help in my community. I LOVE IT!
