Hi I'm Hannah Marie Whipple

I was born in Japan and grew up in California. I have four awesome siblings. I'm an accounting student. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love learning and trying new things - new hobbies, new music, new food, new places, etc.! I went to preschool and kindergarten in Japan, where my family lived for five years before moving to the Bay Area. Music is my passion, and I play the piano and sing. I love being a student in college. I adore my family and going on adventures with them. I also just love to talk!

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon my whole life, but I've known from an early age the importance of learning and choosing for myself to believe and follow the teachings of the Church. I've studied the scriptures and the teachings of the Church and I've prayed about them, and I've received a witness for myself that these things are true. While I don't know if I can pinpoint one specific moment when I knew for the first time it was true, I have had confirmations throughout my life of the truths of the gospel. One such came when I was a young teenager - or maybe not quite a teen yet - when I was singing in the church choir. We were singing "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." It wasn't anything huge, but as I was singing I knew at that moment that my Redeemer does live, and He does love me. The more I learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its teachings, the more I find peace and direction in my life. The teachings of this Church aren't just principles - they are truth, and I've come to know that they are true for myself. I've also come closer to my Savior through the Church, and especially through studying the Book of Mormon. As I live the teachings of the Church more fully, I come to gain a greater understanding of them and of the gospel as a whole, and I gain greater peace. And, as I receive those answers, I choose to believe and to act in faith, even when I don't know all the answers. And, as simple as it sounds, the Gospel just makes me happy!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live true to the New Testament commandment, “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord.” Growing up in the Bay Area, I had many opportunities to share my beliefs with others, and I learned to appreciate and respect their beliefs as well. I also try to emulate the example and life of Jesus Christ by serving others, as the New Testament also says that Jesus “went about doing good.” One way that I have served my community is by volunteering to help low-income individuals and households file their income taxes for free. I also love serving in my congregation, especially when I can do so through music. I believe that any act of service is part of living my faith, and by serving others – my brothers and sisters – I grow in my love for them, and for my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. I also served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Iowa Des Moines Mission! I love the truths of this Church so much, and I loved and continue to love sharing it with others so that they can have that joy and peace too. Serving a mission is the best decision I've ever made!
