Hi I'm Jason Carlyle Miskin

Im a son of God, I've adopted the southern ways, I'm athletic and creative. And I am through and through a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jason. I love to try new things, especially sports and food. I love cooking, being outdoors and staying active. When I'm inside you would find me reading, playing music, or sometimes singing and being goofy. I just love life and am an all around fun loving person. I am now currently finishing my mission in the Salt Lake City South Mission in a Spanish Speaking Assignment. It has taken me 3 years to finish my mission due to medical problems, and many surgeries. But here I am almost done and I love it. The mission has changed my life! I was enrolled in Brigham Young University Idaho and will go back after my mission, or I'm thinking of transferring to the Provo campus, and I am hoping to go into a Health and Exercise Science degree and later become a physical therapist, or debating of being a doctor of some sorts (cardiologist, or reconstructive plastic surgeon). I love to serve other people. Charity plays a big part of my life and working and helping others brings me a lot of joy. So I find the medical field just perfect for me. It fascinates me! I come from a fairly big family. I have two brothers and three sisters. One of my brothers is married and so is one of my sisters. I have three nephews and three nieces who are the most adorable kids ever. All I can say is that I love my family and can't wait to have one of my own one day My life never has been sunshine and rainbows, but through the mission and my experiences I have come to just really love life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and have loved it since I was a child. There were at times that were hard, and I would lose sight of why I loved the church. This led to points where I would stray away from its teachings. But through the mercy and grace of the Lord, my God, I was able to find my way back and love the gospel with all my heart. Coming back to this realization that God is always blessing me, I decided to give back to him with my time by seving a two year mission for the church, which has taken three years to complete now. I love this gospel. It has brought me joy and peace into my life. I know through God's grace and the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can be saved. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon has so many wonderous gifts and promises in it that help me strive to live a better life. One scripture that I hold dear to my heart is Alma 48:17. I am trying to strive in my life to be a man that can stand in front of God and say, "I did my best and I know that with the faith I had in you, Lord, that I could be saved. With God anything is possible The Gospel of Jesus Christ is my life! I try to live it everyday so that I can live with him again. I know that I am not perfect but if I go before him and repent and become better and better each day, that he will forgive me of my trespasses and welcome me with open arms like any of you Another reason is because being a part of this religion has blessed my life and taught me to be a more charitable person. The gospel has also saved my life from many of things. For this cause I hold it dear and will never let go again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be an example and a disciple of Christ each and every day. One may say that is a far reach for one so imperfect, but he is the perfect example and it is my hope and prayer to be like him one day. What is it I do to strive to be an example and a disciple? Well I love to serve other people. Helping around the home and making the home a sanctuary for my family is something I strive to do. A home should be a happy place and a place of love and peace. Another way I live my faith is by trying to spread the gospel to all that will listen to it. It could be members, non-members, it doesn't matter to me because I want to share it with everyone and show/tell them about the thing that makes me the most happy in my life. Also I live my faith by magnifying my calling within the church. I served as an Executive Secretary to the Bishop in our ward. Every other day or so I strived to keep in contact with him to keep him updated about the meetings and interviews he may have with the members of the church. I took notes for him during meetings so that him and I can discuss them and talk of ways to better strengthen our church. It was a great blessing not only to serve my Bishop but to also serve the Lord through that calling. I know that I was called by the Lord to serve in that position. Most of all I live and keep the Lord's commandments. I obey them and listen to his spirit so that I may in turn one day return to live with him in heaven.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Jason Carlyle Miskin
The Word of Wisdom is a guideline to live your life to stay healthy and happy. I live the Word of Wisdom and it has blessed me throughout my whole life! I am an avid sports player so staying healthy is key to this success. I know that if I stay away from drugs, alcohol, coffee, tea, and tobacco, I can stay healthy and perform at my best every time I play. I know that also if I eat healthy like the Word of Wisdom asks my body will be healthy and now break down as easily if I didnt eat healthy. The Word of Wisdom promises us many things if we follow it. Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Jason Carlyle Miskin
That is a very good question I would say because it has been said that every worthy and able young man should serve a mission. I had started out my mission and then had to come home due to medical issues. With that happening I thought I would never be able to go back out and serve but in the end I made up my mind, got better and healed up, and returned to finish my mission. We as young men are asked and prompted to serve missions and as young women of the church it is entirely up to them if they want to serve or not, but they are not focused in on as much to serve. I would have to say we are asked to serve but if we do not then that is okay but in my own opinion I would say that every person that has the opportunity to serve should serve. If we are physically and mentally able to serve we should and also if we are worthy spiritually we should serve also. Show more Show less
