Hi I'm Eric

I grew up in Washington D.C, and now I'm in Utah! And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in downtown Washington DC, but I grew up in the suburbs out in Maryland. I've always loved being outside and especially being outside with my family. I grew up in the woods, but now I've become a fan of the mountains and deserts of southern Utah. Since I was a teenager I have loved running, and eventually picked up biking and swimming and whatever else endurance sport I could. I love seeing how far I can go. There's always a longer race or a higher mountain to climb. I also picked up a violin when I was four haven't stopped playing since. I like working and I don't believe in being bored.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I can't imagine not being a Mormon. Everything in my life that is good has come from being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Every challenge I've ever faced, every problem I've ever had has been overcome by what I have have learned about Christ's love for me. The love I feel at home, as well as the love I feel from the other members of the Church is evidence to me of Christ's true church. Because I know there is a living prophet today, and because I know I will never be left on my own, I always have hope for better things. I know the Book of Mormon is a book of holy scripture, and the most correct book of any on the face of the Earth. Ever single time I read it, I can't help but feel it's realness and truthfulness. I can't use logic to explain it, even to myself. All I know is that it's true. I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I know that I make a ton of mistakes, but I'm so thankful that I can overcome those. I am far too familiar the guilt that comes from making poor choices but by trying to change and improve I end up a little happier everyday. I've started to appreciate the sacrifice that my brother Jesus Christ made for by trying to make my own sacrifices. He gave everything and I've begun to give what I can. What he asks for is broken heart and a contrite spirit, so that's my goal. I want to give it to him. So far I'm giving my time. I'm working on giving my will. A sacrifice is giving up something of value for something of even greater worth. I value what I want to do with my life, but if I can give that to the Lord, I know I will be doing the best I can.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a mormon is awesome! It's being different, it's being happy, it's being confident and it's being a follower of Jesus Christ! It's about not worrying about the trials and temptations of this life and always trying to be better. I guess I've never not been a mormon but every since I did what was necessary to figure out if what I'd always been taught was actually true I feel like I'm actually walking with my eyes open.
