Hi I'm Cristi

I"m a Mormon. I joined the church when I was 33.

About Me

I'm a wife, mom and Grandma. We have 3 grown children. Our daughter recently graduated from BYU, she's married and has blessed us with a granddaughter. Our oldest son is married, he and his wife, as well as our youngest son, attend BYU. I love reading and photography. I've been a homemaker for 24 years, and now work on the computer with my husband who is a cartoonist.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm the only member on my side of my immediate family. My husband was born into and raised in a less active LDS family, but always had a testimony of the truthfulness of his faith. We decided when we married that we would raise our children in one of our churches, and not confuse them by taking them to both. I took lessons from the LDS missionaries to learn about the church and after much prayer and scripture reading I had an experience that helped me recognize the Holy Ghost, and that the LDS church was true. I then prayed on my knees for a confirmation and had another experience that was so strong I couldn't deny that I was supposed to join the church. There have been so many blessings from being a member of this church I can't begin to count them. The biggest has been the help and structure in raising my children, especially when they were teens. They were able to be strong and withstand the many temptations teenagers face today. It wasn't always easy for them, but they would all tell you now it was easier than facing the consequences of actions they could have had to deal with. For me personally, having a relationship with our Father in Heaven, and my Savior Jesus Christ, along with the guidance of the Holy Ghost has blessed me and guided my through some tough times. But, more than anything, living the gospel has made the good times sweeter, and I love my life.

How I live my faith

Currently I volunteer in our temple every Saturday, it is such a peaceful place. I've had a hard year, but the temple has been my refuge. Before I worked in the temple I worked with our youth. It was so much fun, and kept me on my (aging) toes. I love teenagers, and having not had the church when I was one, feel they are so lucky have it. I also know how hard it is to be a teenager sometimes and it was awesome and rewarding to be able to help them.
