Hi I'm Sierra

I'm a California girl, a hair stylist, psychiatric technician, and a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my undergraduate degree in family life. Before that I studied interior design and cosmetology. Currently, I'm just working so I can obtain experience before applying to master's programs in social work. I love meeting new people and making people, spaces and things more beautiful. I love giving service and setting goals. I would probably accomplish more if I set less goals because my attention would be less divided, but I can't, because I know I want to be so much better than I am in every way.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me and who has a plan for me. I have had so many experiences where He has answered my prayers in simple and impressive ways. I continually feel a confirmation of peace as I study the gospel of His son Jesus Christ and recieve answers, peace, comfort and direction through the Holy Ghost. I know that I matter to them and I'm striving to strengthen those heavenly relationships. I know that it is because of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost that we have the gospel on the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and was called to restore their gospel on the earth as a prophet. Joseph Smith isn't here for us to ask about that experience and he doesn't need to be. We have the opportunity through prayer to speak with Heavenly Father. He was there and we can ask Him if He appeared to Joseph and we can read The Book of Mormon (an ancient record) that was translated by the power of God through His servant Joseph Smith. That book contains a promise in Moroni chapter 10 verses 3-5 that anyone can put to the test to find out if the book is true and to know if Joseph really was a prophet. I have put it to the test and received a witness of it's truthfulness and of Joseph's divine calling. I also know we have a prophet on the earth today. I am so grateful for that knowledge and for his service to the world. I love the opportunity we have every April and October to listen to General Conference so that we can to hear the prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and the apostles share with us the things Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want us to know and do. I'm so grateful for the power and authority God has given to prophets and apostles that makes it possible for anyone to be baptized and recieve the Holy Ghost by that authority and that also allows couples and families to create eternal relationships capable of extending after this life.

How I live my faith

I have served in the church in many different positions. Most of those callings were unexpected but wonderful growing experiences. I have taught classes on different books of scripture, preparing to enter the temple, and on the basic things we believe in. I have lead the music in meetings, conducted the choir, visited women monthly who are in the Relief Society (the women's organization), and had many other callings. We all contribute to the experience we have at church through the opportunities we have to serve in callings and through the support we give to others in their callings.

What are Mormon temples used for?

Temples are holy places were we can learn more about God's plan for His children and where we can make covenants with God for ourselves and on behalf of our ancestors who did not have the opportunity to do so during their lifetime. It is through temple covenants and ordinances that generations of families can be connected eternally. Show more Show less
