Hi I'm Joe Werner

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently studying Welding Fabrication Technology Management at BYU-Idaho. I love to ride motorcycles, snowboard, hunt, and fish-or pretty much anything else outside. I grew up in small towns where everyone treated each other like family. I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the LDS church I was never forced to go. My parents gave me agency whether to stay in the church or not. At times it has been hard for me to accept the church, but through prayer I know that this is the true church. Everyone goes through a conversion process whether they grew up in the church or not, for me my testimony of the LDS church has come gradually. I have never had a huge "awakening" experience where i instantly knew the LDS church was true, but I remember several times where i felt the spirit strongly bear witness to the truth of things. One experience was during a scout camp. Before we went to bed one night our troop gathered for a testimony meeting. As i sat listening to other's testimony the spirit overwhelmed me and bore witness that what they were saying was true. That was the first time I felt the spirit that strongly. In the Fall of 2011 I was able to teach a friend of mine about the LDS church. Before then she was suffering with depression and really struggled with life. When we started talking about the church and when she started attending sunday meetings I could tell her life was changing. She was beginning to be happier, she smiled all the time. She was baptized early in December and is now strong in the church and happier than ever. Being able to improve her life that much was the most meaningful experience of my life, and I will never forget that experience.

How I live my faith

If you walked by me on the street you probably couldn't tell I'm a Mormon. My Carhartt pants and Cabela's t-shirt are no signs of being Mormon. You would have to get to know me to tell that I'm a Mormon. Going to church every Sunday and being able to see others their who are such an example to me means the world. Its the other members of this church that keeps my faith strong. Teaching assignments in the church really help not only those being taught but helps the teacher as well. I have really benefited spiritually both from being taught and teaching other people. I love this church and will stay in it till I die.
