Hi I'm Janeen

I am the youngest in a loving family of six, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending college in South Texas studying to be a Dental Hygienist. I will be graduating in April 2013 and then will be moving back to Alberta, Canada. Some things I am interested in are reading, writing, singing, dancing, and playing the piano. I was fortunate enough to be born into a family where our lives were centered around the gospel. Being raised in a small town where the majority of the people I went to school with and associated with were members of the church helped influence me and lead me to where I am today.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because: I know God knows me. He knows what makes me sad. He knows why I cry. He knows my fears. He knows how I feel. Every minute of every day. He knows what brings me complete happiness. He wants to help me to keep that happiness forever. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:16-17 I know that I make mistakes. I am far from perfect. I think the wrong thing. I say the wrong thing. I do the wrong thing. I am who I am. But I know that there is a way to become clean again. I know Christ suffered all I have suffered for my sins so I am able to have eternal life. I know that by staying close to God, and keeping His commandments He will help me remain on the right path. He will help me make decisions. He will comfort me when I am sad. He will calm my troubled heart. He will bless me. and He will forgive me. People can judge my mistakes. They can judge my actions. They can judge me for things I say or things I do. Things I might have said in the past. Or done in the past. But that doesn't matter because I know if I keep the commandments, I will be able to return to my Father in Heaven again. I will be able to thank His son for all that he suffered for me. I will be able to experience joy beyond mortal comprension. I will be able to be with my family forever. I will be able to be with the love of my life forever. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith not only by attending my weekly meetings and institute, but by magnifying my callings and finding ways to help serve the branch I am currently apart of. I currently have two callings: the Primary Pianist, and the Ward Organist. Being in the primary has allowed me the chance to work with children and I have truly loved being able to feel the spirit each and every week as they share their simple and pure testimonies of the gospel. Being able to help teach the primary through music has helped me have a greater appreciation for both children and the children's songs. This calling has also led me to be excited for the day that I can be a mother and raise children in the gospel. I absolutely love children and their sweet spirits always bring a smile to my face. I was nervous when I was called as the Ward Organist because I don't like to play in front of a lot of people and although I had many years of experience, there is something about getting up during sacrament meeting to play the hymns that makes me very nervous. However, I am the only member in my branch that can play the piano/organ well enough to be able to accompany the hymns so I know that God needs me to serve. I have grown to love the hymns and I thoroughly enjoy being able to serve the branch by sharing my talents. My callings have helped me grow in the gospel and also helped me appreciate the many people who have brought me to a place where I can play the hymns and primary songs.
