Hi I'm Clive Rudd

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from Utah State University in Electronic/Electrical engineering some years ago. I have worked in electronics for quite a few years. One project I really enjoyed was a test system on the Titan rockets just prior to launch. I got to travel to Cape Canaveral and see a Titan launch and a Shuttle launch. I changed jobs and worked for the Air Force and was involved in replacing old equipment at the solar observatory sites located around the world. These solar observatories have both optical and radio telescopes. They are located in Hawaii, Italy, Boston, and Australia. Just recently we completed a replacement of equipment in Boston, and Italy, Australia and Hawaii. It was fun to travel to these sites, and see some of the world. I have since retired and am going to serve a mission for the LDS Church to Fort Lauderdale Florida. I like to fish and go camping. I have taken my sons fishing on the Green River for quite a few years. We fish on the Green River where it comes out of the Flaming Gorge dam in Utah. We have had many special experiences together. I enjoy looking at the stars at night. One of my favorites is to look at the Andromeda galaxy. I have a small telescope, but in the mountains, you can see Andromeda galaxy with the naked eye.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When I was in High School, I had a teacher challenge me to read the Book of Mormon and to determine for my self if it really is the word of God and if it came from God as Joseph Smith said it did. At the end of the Book of Mormon is a promise that if one reads it and prays about it, God will make it known to the reader that it is true. So I took the challenge to read it and prayed about it. There came into my heart a very powerful feeling that it was true and it came from God. I can't explain it, but I just knew that it was true. Since that time I have read it many times and feel the spirit of God touch my soul, just as He does when I read the New Testament. The Book of Mormon teaches about Christ and His gospel. I believed it so much I served a mission for the Church to England. I saw how Jesus Christ can change the lives of people for the better. I believe in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon and I know that Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ, and established the Lord's true church upon the earth. It is the kingdom of God established in the earth spoken of in the 2nd chapter of Daniel. I encourage you to get a copy of the Book of Mormon and see for yourself what it teaches about Christ and His Gospel. It can touch your heart just as the New Testament does. It can shed light on the teachings of Christ. Prayerfully study it - it will bring a great deal of truth and light into your life, and a happiness you have never known before. I am a Mormon, because the Church is truly the Church of Jesus Christ. A significant amount of the truths taught by Christ when He was on the earth have been lost. The Church He established was lost with the death of the apostles. I am a Mormon because the Church that Christ had on the earth has been restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. The priesthood and all of the original true doctrines have been brought back to the earth.

How I live my faith

The congregations in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are known as Wards. We attend our ward each week. My wife and I serve in our ward as the ward librarians. We will serve in this position until we leave for our mission. Our family has been very happy in the Church, and enjoy participating in lessons as instructors or students, learning about Jesus and the life He led. We also learn about what He did for us, & how He died for us that we might live again. At times I have had the opportunity to give a lesson or a talk. I always enjoy teaching the Gospel. Once a month I visit people in our ward and see how they are doing. My wife visits the women or sisters in the ward. This way we can determine how people in the ward are doing and if they need any assistance. We have one sister in the ward that has breast cancer and we are all chipping in to help them with meals, baby sitting, or yard work - where ever we can help out. My wife and I and our children have been very happy in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I would encourage you to attend a meeting of the Church in your location. You will find a friendly people that are there to learn about Christ. They will share with you the teachings of the Lord as found in the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Clive Rudd
There are many Christian churches in the world today. There are many interpretations of the Bible. How do we know which church is right? How do we know what is the true doctrine of Christ? If there is a discussion with a collection of religious leaders, experts, or preachers, on a particular doctrine say baptism, or repentance, or the Lords last supper and it's meaning in our lives, we will probably get as many different opinions about the subject as we have people in the discussion. Many of those opinions would probably be based on the Bible. What is the right answer? Who speaks with authority from God? What would be God's opinion? How could we determine Gods opinion in today's world? Why doesn't God simply send an angel to us and straighten us out as to what is the proper interpretation of the Bible? What if Paul could enter a time machine and step into our day and time. He could tell us the true doctrine of Christ and do it with authority. As an apostle of the Lord, we could believe what he said and assume that he spoke for Christ. That is exactly what happened. God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith. He was taught the true doctrine of Christ. Other Prophets have been called in succession. Today it is Thomas S. Monson. He speaks with power and authority from God. He tells us what the Lord's opinion is, not mans. He tells us what the Lords interpretation of the scriptures is. Is there a prophet like Moses alive today? You bet! Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Clive Rudd
Some people think that we put Joseph Smith above Christ. This is just simply not true. Joseph Smith was a great prophet like Moses or Isaiah, no more no less. If one examines the writings of Joseph Smith, he or she will see that Joseph Smith preached Jesus Christ, and Him only. If one reads the Book of Mormon that Joseph Smith translated, he or she will see that the Book of Mormon teaches of Jesus and adds a second witness that He is the Christ, there is nothing in the Book of Mormon about Joseph Smith other than the record of how he obtained the record. It is about Christ and sheds further light on the gospel of Jesus Christ that we learn from the Bible. The thing that makes Joseph Smith so important is the fact that he was chosen to be Gods prophet to restore the true Church back on the earth that Christ established while he was on the earth, to help prepare the world for the Lords 2nd coming. It included a restoration of the priesthood, and the organization of the Church. How does one determine if Joseph Smith is a true prophet sent from God? By his Fruits (See Matthew ch 7 vs 15-20). One of the significant fruits of Joseph Smith is the Book of Mormon. Near the end it contains Gods promise that if one reads and prays about it, God will manifest the truth of it to the one who truly seeks. To determine if Joseph Smith is a true Prophet sent from God, one only needs to read the Book of Mormon and pray and ask God if it is true. But one must truly seek Christ. Show more Show less
