Hi I'm Laura

I love to paint. I'm a vegetarian. I love my family. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Ogden, UT and raised in Akron, OH. I am the youngest of 5 children and have a great family. I love to be in nature and do almost anything outside. I enjoy listening to music and learning new instruments. I love playing ultimate frisbee and basketball!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was 21, and I have been raised a member of the Mormon church and I love it! Knowing that I have a loving Heavenly Father that is always there for me has brought so much joy into my life. Life is full of challenges and trials, and the knowledge that I have of my Savior Jesus Christ has brought me through all those hard times. I have hope in my future because I know that there is life after our time on this earth. The gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to heal the deepest wounds and bring happiness in times of distress. Through following the example of Christ, we can find joy. I am so thankful that my mother joined this church and provided this knowledge to her children. I am so thankful that through the power of the priesthood, families can be forever. I know that this is THE church of Jesus Chirst, and I know that Joseph Smith saw what he said he saw. Of this I am sure. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that all who pray to know for themselves, who ask in faith, will come to the same conclusion. I will strive to follow my Savior all the days of my life, because doing anything other than that simply won't make you as happy.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full-time mission which will last for 18 months. I love it! I have the chance every day to share the message of happiness with all I meet. What could be better than having your job be to deliver happiness? Before I left for my mission, I loved finding ways to serve those around me and lift people up. I think everyone can benefit from having someone show them kindness, that is what Jesus did while he was on the earth. Everyone has the power to change the world for the better :).

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Growing up in a place where people are less familiar with what Mormon's really believe, I got asked this question a lot. I loved it when people would ask questions like this because it gave me the opportunity to help them understand what we really believe. No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. I worship God, and our Savior Jesus Chirst. We simply have a great respect for Joseph Smith because he was the man chosen by God to restore the fullness of the gospel in the latter-days. It would only make sense that we would have respect for a chosen servant of God, right? I am so thankful that Joseph Smith was willing to dedicate his life to the service of God, and in the end give his life for it. Any person who is willing to die for the cause of truth, in my mind, deserves to be honored. Show more Show less
