Hi I'm Scott

I'm from the Utah mountains. I play guitar and love spending time with friends and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Utah my entire life and I love it! There are many things I like to do such as mountain biking, basketball, camping, astronomy, longboarding, wakeboarding, listening to music, and playing guitar! Most of the time you will find outdoors doing something crazy! I love it. I am the oldest of 4 brothers in my family and they are all awesome! And the Gospel is my Rock!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have experienced the blessings that come in my life and the life of my family. That is something I am truly grateful for. I know that God answers prayers and that is how I have come to know that this Church is true. Reading from the Book of Mormon and praying about it has really shaped my testimony and the confirming feeling from the Holy Ghost gives me comfort and reassurance for the things I know to be true. Words just cannot describe my testimony of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I attend church and feel the Spirit of the Lord every time I go. I spend time studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon in depth. I have learned from the scriptures that when you serve other people, you serve God. And that is exactly what I love doing. There isn't anything that makes me happier than being in the service of others and helping others feel comforted. This Gospel affects all parts of my life. I strive to follow the Savior's example in all things that I do. I will always follow this Gospel and live it for the rest of my life because there isn't anything that will bring me more joy. I am serving a full time mission in Alabama.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Scott
Its a commandment for everyone to get baptized by the proper authority. They have to be phisically baptized by imersion in the flesh on Earth. When someone dies without having been baptized, they can be baptized by proxy. Which means a person who is alive today can be baptized in hehalf of the deceased person. Just to point out, these deceased people are not being added to the membership of the Church. They have to first choose to accept it. It is a sacred work that is done in the Mormon Temples. Records of baptisms are kept in the temple to be sure baptisms are not repeated. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Scott
Yes, this is true. After Jesus Christ was resurrected, He came to the Americas. When He was here, He taught His gospel. In the Bible, Jesus talks about "other sheep" (ancient American inhabitants) He had who haven't had the chance to listen and learn from him (John 10:16). It is described in the Book of Mormon in 3 Nephi 15:21 where Jesus Christ has apeared in America and is talking to people and telling them that they were the sheep of whom He spake of in the New Testament. So yes, Christ himself apeared in America because God loves all his children and wants everyone to hear. Both in the East and West. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Scott
They will help you understand the true meaning of life and their teachings are all centered on the savior Jesus Christ. They give answers to why there are so many religions today, where we were before this life, why we are here on Earth, and where we are going after mortality. In addition to this, they show how everyone can find answers about everyday life. They teach people how and why we should follow Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Scott
It goes directly to building up the kingdom of God on the Earth today. We do not believe in paid ministry. It helps with the construction of temples, education and provides funds for the Church. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Scott
We can increase our faith by reading the Book of Mormon and by applying what it teaches to our daily lives. We have to act on those teachings. It also requires diligence in gospel study and attending church on a regular basis. We must exercise our faith constantly. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Scott
No! We only worship God and his son Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was an instrument and Prophet in the hands of God that brought all the truths about Christ's gospel back to the Earth. Including the authority and permission from God to do baptisms, heal the sick, and the performing of sacred ordinances. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Scott
A revealed truth given to you through the Holy Ghost. It is pretty much the starting point in a belief in Jesus Christ. We need to nourish our testimonies by prayer, reading scriptures and attending church regularly. As we do these things, we enjoy the blessings of an enduring conversion to the Gospel. Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Scott
Why would it not be important? Why would you perform a baptism without God's permission through the Holy Priesthood? Throughout time, God has given men on the Earth power and authority to act in His name. This authority must be passed down from Jesus Christ to righteous men by the laying on of hands or it is not God's authority. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Scott
Yes. The world changes all the time. We all need God's guidance to keep us on the right path and the prophets are chosen by God to do that. Show more Show less
