Hi I'm Jake

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I look like I'm polynesian and I love to play sports (basketball is number one though!), March Madness is better than Santa Clause for me! I like to do just about anything and everything outdoors and listening to music. I love this gospel and the joy that living it, not just being a part of it brings. I grew up a member of the church but never took it that serious until I started preparing to serve a mission. As I took the time to really think about what I'd been taught and what I had read in the Book of Mormon I received a witness from the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true and that this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Gods kingdom here on the earth. There is not a doubt in me that this is His church. I have received witnesses that this is true and I have received too many blessings to count from living the teachings of Jesus Christ found within His church.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have taken it upon myself to ask God the Eternal Father if this church is His true church. My answer didn't come all at once and it took some time to recognize but I know that I have gained a witness that this is His church. The Book of Mormon is a key part of my life because it gives me a greater peace and knowledge that God loves me just as He loves each one of His children and it was key in me receiving my answer. I love the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon is a pure example and record of His teachings. I encourage everyone who is searching for purpose in life or simply for a greater abundance of God's love to read and ponder the Book of Mormon and then to do as I did and ask God if it is true. And if there is still any doubt...ask the missionaries, they can help you!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live each and every day as an example of how Christ would if He were here. I know that I fall short of being perfect every day but I also know that if I'm doing my best to live as Christ would my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ are proud of me. I am currently serving a two year mission for the Church and I go out every day trying to find those that will here me out and receive the message that God loves us enough to call a prophet to give us His word today. I try very hard to obey the words of the modern prophets because I know that they speak for God and what they ask us to do is paired with blessings from Heaven. So in a nutshell.."I'm trying to be like Jesus".

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Missionaries proselyte because they feel the love of the Savior and the joy that living His teachings brings to their own individual lives and want more than anything to share that with as many people as possible. There is no better feeling than to see someone accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and to accept His teachings. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Mormons are definitely Christians! Everything we do is centered around the life of Jesus Christ and His Atonement (meaning His sacrifice for our sins and His resurection from the tomb). Many people believe that we worship Joseph Smith, this is not the case. We worship God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. In the Book of Mormon there is a verse in the book of 2 Nephi that says " And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." If the testimonies of countless members of Church aren't enough this verse of scripture is. Show more Show less
