Hi I'm Tanya

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of four wonderful people, and the grandmother of 10 precious children. I love to golf, have played since I was 11, and the beach is my favorite place to be. It helps me to relax and feel calm. I have traveled a bit and love to discover new places; view God's fabulous creation in all it's splendor. And if that travel involves history, I am twice blessed!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my mom let the Missionaries in our home and listened to them talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I knew it was right and good. I knew I had a Father in Heaven that loved me and that I came from Him to this earth, and will return to Him when I die. I knew that families can be together forever. The Spirit whispered to my heart that what I was learning was true. When I was 19 I started reading the Book of Mormon seriously, and felt a hunger to read more and more. I couldn't put it down until I was done, and the feeling of truthfulness was very strong. Strong enough that I could not deny it. There was a burning in my chest that what I was reading was from God. I have been actively working to keep building my testimony and trying to live the commandments of God since that day. I have learned that Jesus Christ truly atoned for my sins and weaknesses, what an amazing concept! I feel loved and cherished by Him even when I am not doing all I can do, and that makes me want to try harder. I have learned that we are all weak and need to lean on Christ every day, that no one is perfect, and that Christ makes up the difference when we are doing our part to be a loving child of God. We are all connected, one very large family, and are loved equally by that wonderful Father who created us!

How I live my faith

I think I live my faith by keeping my thoughts geared to what Heavenly Father would want me to do. At least I try to. I keep my faith strong by talking to God and reading my scriptures daily. I think this helps me to focus on what is really important and keep the things of the world at bay. During the hardest times of my life, and there have been a few, I have felt the presence of the Spirit very strongly, and that continues to reaffirm to me that God is there. My dearest wish is for my children and grandchildren to have a relationship with the Lord and feel His love and guidance. Going to church each week and going to the Temple as often as possible are also ways that I try to live my faith. It's important to me that people know how much the gospel means to me, and that I am trying to be an example of Christian living, even though I know I am very flawed. I have participated (volunteered) at church all my adult life, in many capacities. I have worked with children, youth, and adults, but mostly with the women's organization. I have been a Visiting Teacher for 35 years, and this organization that helps us take care of each other is a wonderful example of Christian service. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, it is the foundation of my life!
