About Me

Hi! Hola! Ciao! Bonjour! My name is Yvette. I was born in California. My parents are from Mexico, and I am the oldest of 7 siblings. I lived in southern California. I converted in California just months before I moved to Idaho, and I've lived in Idaho since high school. Through middle and high school, I discovered the things that I like. I love to play soccer, play the guitar, I love to eat Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and I love to learn about different cultures and languages. I'm a BYU-Idaho student. My goal is to become a language teacher. I love languages! I'm learning the Italian language, and now I dream to go to Italy someday, especially to see the first temple in Italy, which is to be dedicated in 2015! I also would like to go to China and Korea someday too. But the best thing in the world is my family, I love spending time with them and do things together, because I love them so much. I don't know why, but these are some things are just parts that make up me.

Why I am a Mormon

Moving to Idaho during high school was really really hard. I missed my home and family. I became sad, and I got a bully after only a few weeks in school, and that didn't make it any easier. I was made fun of in front of everyone. I became depressed and had anxiety every day. During that time I was humbled to look to God every hour of each day, and I prayed to my Father in Heaven for help not just every morning and night, but throughout the day I talked to him. I read His word every day. I went to His house of prayer every Sunday, and I served my family and others. These things brought me peace, I learned even more that God is our Father in Heaven, and every single human on Earth are His children. I learned about the plan He made. I am a child of God, and that life has a purpose. And all this really is going towards something specific that He has planned out for us. Jesus Christ's gospel has been restored, and every part of it blesses us. Following the Lord brings peace and happiness when we embrace it with our heart. Not only that, but it guides us on the path that returns to God, and we can be with our families together forever. I'm so thankful to know about it. I am a "mormon" because of this. That word "mormon" is just a nick name that was given to us because of the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ, that wasn't known about because it was put away, buried for many years. A lot of people still don't know about the record. Everyone needs to know about it. We are blessed to have more of His holy scripture restored to the people. There were a few times that the Lord's church had fallen, because of rejection by men, and restored a few times. Jesus Christ had His church while in His life on Earth. His church was killed off, but the very same church has been restored! And because this is the last time, and His church won't fall again, He named it also ...of Latter-Day Saints, because we are in the last days. The Lord is the head of the church!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by how I act and live my life. Now that I remember a scripture, it says, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." (James 2:26). I think about Jesus Christ and His life on Earth. I know that He died for our sins. He did so much for us. And I remember His life on Earth. He truly lived an example for all God's children to follow. And so I live my faith by following His example. I've also dreamed of being a missionary, and finally on September 29, 2013 I received a call to serve. It is a dream come true. I have been called to serve in the Canada Montreal Mission. I will share the Gospel mainly in Spanish, but I am also to learn French! I got surprised about that, and I'm so happy to learn another language. I'm also surprised that I was given less than 2 months to prepare. I will miss Thanksgiving with my family by just 1 week. I know this is a great work. My family had been blessed to know the truth, and I want everyone to know about this so that they can know it too.
