Hi I'm Dan

I'm a husband and father of five kids living in Utah. I love racquetball, cars, listening to music and home theater. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah but have lived in places as remote as the Philippines for two years. In my youth I was called "Dan, the scientist" as it wasn't uncommon for me to come to grade school everyday with a lunchbox full of electronics, motors, batteries, wires, etc. As I've grown up, my passion for gadgets has continued and I ended up getting a degree in Information Systems and Technology. I've worked in Software Development and IT Management for almost two decades now and enjoy seeing how technology is changing the world and our interactions with it. When I'm not sitting in front of a computer I can often be found under the hood of a car repairing and/or rebuilding an engine, attending sports games with my kids, camping with my kids, or enjoying an uplifting movie.

Why I am a Mormon

My most treasured gifts are my wife and kids. As a dad I'm doing my best to provide for my family and not let all of the moments pass me by. I'm still trying to figure out how to put more life into my years and teach my kids what is most important in life. My wife is my superhero and someone I'm proud to have as my eternal companion. I'm a Mormon because I believe that we are all children of a Heavenly Father, who loves us. The bible teaches us that God created the heavens and the earth, that anciently there were men called as his prophets, that Jesus Christ once walked and taught the people on the earth, and that we must learn of him. Growing up as a Mormon in my youth, I have tried to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ over the past several decades. In my early youth I read another book of scripture about ancient prophets, the lessons they learned in ancient times, and a visitation by Jesus Christ to another people. This book, the Book of Mormon, issues a challenge to all of those who read from its pages to ask God, our Heavenly Father, in faith as to whether or not it is true. I have done this and have received my own personal witness that it is true and that the events that transpired in these latter-days to restore Christ's Church on the earth through the hands of a modern day prophet, Joseph Smith, are also true. While the Lord has blessed me with occasional, powerful manifestations regarding the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I think the most consistent witness to me of it's truthfulness comes by the happiness and peace I feel each days as I strive to live my life in accordance with gospel principles per our Heavenly Father's plan. I believe that Christ lives, that he loves us, and wants us to be happy.

How I live my faith

I currently spend a lot of time working with the youth in our Church--especially the young men who are involved in Scouting. I enjoy working with them as they strive to live by the principles of the scout law and earn their Eagle awards. I believe that the youth, our children, are growing up in a world much different that the one I grew up in. As a parent and volunteer I feel a great responsibility to be a guide and a role model for them.
