Hi I'm Mindy Janis

I'm a Mormon, a mom, grandma, wife and an early childhood music educator.

About Me

I’m a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandma. I run my own home music studio where I teach piano, musical theater, and Kindermusik! My focus is on using musical play to enhance child development. It’s fascinating to me how Heavenly Father designed so many spontaneous musical and movement experiences to be part of childhood and how these experience help develop a child’s brain. When I’m not teaching I enjoy reading and gardening.

Why I am a Mormon

Life is rough! Even the best of lives is filled with painful learning and growing experiences. When I look at some of the really bad things that happen in life, without an understanding of the purpose of life and God’s plan, I’d think life was some sort of cruel joke. I’m a Mormon because I’ve found that the doctrinal teaching of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provide answers and comfort that gives my life meaning. The doctrines of the church give me strength to get through the hard days and increase my happiness on the good days. I know I am a literal spirit child of God and that I am here on earth to learn. That because of the atonement of Jesus Christ all the mistakes and hurt I cause and the hurt other’s cause can be forgiven and learned from. I know that because God loves us, He gives us a modern day prophet just like He blessed the earth with prophets during the days of the Bible. The Book of Mormon is a wonderful testament of Jesus Christ and shows that God is no respecter of persons. Wherever there are people who worship Him, He will provide them with a prophet and priesthood keys and ordinances. I’m a Mormon because the Bible and Book of Mormon working hand in hand with the teachings of modern day prophets give comfort, meaning and purpose to my daily life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to make the lives of those around me better. That may mean something as simple as helping a mother in the grocery store line, or smiling at a grumpy clerk. I make studying the word of God part of my everyday life. We have daily family prayer and family scripture study. You can’t follow the teaching s of Jesus Christ if you don’t know what they are. I’ve been able to work extensively with the youth in our church, helping lead weekly youth activities, Sunday lessons, and summer camps and activities. I love helping the youth understand that the restrictions God puts on their behavior actually make them happier in the long run. I’ve also been able to work extensively with the toddler and children’s programs both in our church and community. God cares so much about the children. It’s rewarding to share with parents the knowledge God’s given me about how important music and movement are to a child’s growing brain and how they can use music and movement to parent in a more effective and loving manner. I seek to live my faith every second of my life by trying to align my actions with the teachings of Jesus Christ and using the talents He’s given me to bless the lives of others. I can’t relieve all the suffering here on earth put I can make my own small difference to those around me.
