Hi I'm Adria

I'm an artist. I'm a musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Anything creative is what I love! I enjoy drawing and painting, singing, writing books and writing music. I also greatly enjoyed playing the saxophone, drums, and clarinet in high school! Big band jazz is my favorite thing to play and listen to. I also really love spending time with people I care about.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because nothing else has brought me greater happiness. During bleak times, when I was barely holding on, this gospel was the only thing that got me through. I remember during my most sorrowful and stressful days, praying for peace. And a great peace always came, completely wiping away any traces of fear or sorrow. When I keep the commandments and give my best effort to the Lord, there is no greater happiness! This gospel is all about becoming perfected through Christ, and relying on Him. It teaches to better ourselves and to mold ourselves into what God wants us to be. Christ has made me whole. Without this gospel and his atoning sacrifice, there is no way I could even hope to be who I am today. I know without a doubt that He lives! My heart is filled with so much gratitude for this church. It is my greatest joy, and my life. The Lord is real! He is really, truly there, and he really cares about each and every one of us. Whenever I need comfort, or strength to endure, I know that I can always go to the Lord in prayer and he will be near me to ease my burdens. I love the Savior with all of my heart, might, mind, and strength! I wish I could tell the whole world about the great and powerful joy that this gospel brings.

How I live my faith

In my ward I was involved in leading the music for our sacrament services, and serving in a leadership position over the other young women my age. Currently I serve as a primary teacher, teaching three-year-olds about the gospel.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

We believe that all people deserve a chance to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons). It's not fair or just to have only those who happen to hear the message of this gospel in their lifetime be given the opportunity to be baptized. What about those who have passed on, who didn't have the chance to decide whether or not they wanted to be a member? Because of this, in our temples we perform baptisms for the dead. This is when a member of the church is baptized in behalf of someone who has passed on. The deceased person then has the chance to either accept or reject that baptismal ordinance performed on their behalf. Show more Show less
