Hi I'm Ashley

I'm a student, I'm a Missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life. I love being a missionary. I love my family. And I love the gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

It wasn't really until I was a Laurel (the 16-18 year old girls in the Young Women Organization of the Church) that I became interested in knowing for myself whether it was true. I knew that I needed a strength and testimony that I didn't have yet. So I did what the Book of Mormon and Bible say to do time and time again--I prayed, and asked to know if it were true. I had barely finished the sentence when I knew my answer. Never before had I felt such overwhelming comfort and peace, and I knew that it was true. I wish I could say it were easy street from there, but it wasn't. It would be nice if that were enough to always remember, but that would be too easy. I've come to learn (as we all do eventually) that life isn't easy, and it wasn't ever meant to be. What matters is where we turn in those times. And I can testify, without a doubt, that if we turn to the Lord, we will be blessed and able to take on anything. I know that for me, in those times of self-doubt and when it seems like everything is crashing in, putting my trust and faith in the Lord, He will be there, with His arms outstretched, ready to help. He truly knows us--what we need, what we're feeling--and He is with us every step of the way.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily in the choices I make. We have a saying that goes "Choose the Right," which I guess you could say is similar to "What Would Jesus Do?" When you choose to "Choose the Right," you choose to follow God's commands to His children. It's not an easy path, and it's definitely not always the popular path, but by choosing to follow His commands, I am blessed, and more able to share His love with His children.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Ashley
The Book of Mormon was written before Christ's birth by Prophets who lived on the American continent. It is a record of their history and prophecies. The last of these Prophets, Mormon, was commanded to collect the histories together, and is the namesake of this Book. Joseph Smith translated the Book in the 1820's. Within the Book of Mormon is Christ's teachings. Each and every Prophet who wrote the Book testify of Christ. The culminating event of the Book of Mormon is Christ's appearance on the American continent, where He taught His gospel, administered to the sick, the afflicted, and the needy, and formed His church. This Book can and will do nothing more than bring one closer to their Savior, Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost has manifested to me that this to be true as I have prayed and studied the Book. Anyone can know for themselves, through the Holy Ghost, by sincerely praying and reading the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
