Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I studied my freshman year in the University of Oklahoma. I am currently serving a full-time 2 year mission in the Mexico Torreón Mission, teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the very same principles and ordinances that He taught when he was here on this earth. I have plans to return home, and study in BYU starting up in January 2013. I am a huge Oklahoma City Thunder fan, and am looking forward to MANY NBA Titles in the upcoming years. I love spending time with my family and friends, being on the basketball court, on the golf course, and playing the ukulele. I am a singer, and sometimes even a songwriter (depending on the day). I love long drives in the black Chevy, listening to Tay Swift and Michael Buble. I am a "cross that bridge when we get there" kind of guy, always with a plan, but willing to change it on a dime if necessary. Everything I do, I do to please my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized at the age of eight. As the Prophet Nephi explains in the first chapter of the Book of Mormon, I as well was "born of goodly parents." In the summer before my freshman year of high school began, my Uncle Kimball (age 26 at the time, a young husband and father) passed away as result of a very serious car accident. This was a grand turning point in my life, as one of my very best friends and role models, someone I looked up to so much, left this life so quickly and suddenly. His death was so unexpected, and truly caught me off guard. He passed away August 8th, 2005. This same month, the Prophet and President of the church at that time, Gordon B. Hinckley, challenged all members in all of the world to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover in the months that remained in that year, 2005. With excitement, determination, and hope to build and strengthen the testimony that I had so steadily obtained, I accepted the challenge. I finished the Book of Mormon, and prayed to know if it were true. The answer I received was so simple, yet so powerful, and I continue to look back upon that answer with a smile, and immense satisfaction and gratitude. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the one and only true and living church that is over the face of the earth. I know that Joseph Smith, the translator of the Book of Mormon, is a Prophet of God, the Prophet of the Restoration of Christ's church. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet today, and that he speaks with and receives revelation from Jesus the Christ, who is at the Head of His Church. I know that as we listen to a Prophet's voice, we learn that which we must do in order to obtain true happiness and true peace in this life, and life eternal which is to come. Thanks to this testimony that I have, I know that I will one day be with my Uncle Kimball again, and with ALL of my family. I know that families are forever. This is why I'm Mormon.

How I live my faith

As I stated before, I am a full time missionary, serving the Lord for two years, in the Mission Mexico Torreón. Returning home, I will be excitedly awaiting a new calling (or assignment) which will be given to me by my local church leaders. I live my faith by serving. I live my faith by searching out those who need a helping hand, those who simply need a smile, or a kind greeting with a pat of the back. This is how I live my faith, and I look forward to living it for the rest of my days here in this life.
