Hi I'm Deegan Bushman

I'm a missionary! I have some crazy hair in this picture, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a 19 year old missionary serving in San Bernardino, California. So far, I am really enjoying it! Missionary work is fun to do. I love to play basically any sport, even if I'm not very good at it! I also love watching sports with my friends and family. I attended one semester at BYU, but then they took all my money, so I went home to work. I worked at a movie theater for almost 2 years, so I love to watch movies. I worked in the concession area for most of that time, but towards the end, I got moved to tearing tickets and cleaning theaters, which I liked much more. I had a lot of fun, and I loved the people I worked with. I'm pretty good at getting along with others and staying positive, which are good traits at a job like that! When I have free time, I enjoy doing Sudoku puzzles and listening to my music. I like basically any type of music, except for most country songs. My favorite band is called Red, and I also like Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, and Thousand Foot Krutch. My favorite type of music is rock, but I'm a sucker for a good beat. I'm a pretty normal guy. I love to make people laugh and smile! It makes me so happy to see others happy, so I try my best (as corny as I am) to make jokes and brighten people's days.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church, so I don't have an amazing conversion story, but I have found out for myself that this church is true. I have been taught the pricciples of this gospel since my youth and I truly believe that I turned out the way I did because of those teachings. There are so many things taught that line my will with God's, and if I continue in that direction, my life will continue to be wonderful. The gospel of Jesus Christ makes me so happy, and brings so much light into my life, that there is no way that it isn't true! And I want others to receive that light and joy as well, which is why I'm on a mission. Seeing the affect the knowledge of this gospel has on people is astounding, and strengthens my testimony greatly. When I think of this church, I think of hope. The gospel quiets all my fears, and I KNOW that it is true. I know that God loves and cares about me, and that He wants me to live with Him again. I know that Jesus is the Christ, and that through Him, we can live forever with our families. That makes me sooo happy! I love my family, and because of the gospel, we have grown so close to one another. The teachings of the gospel strengthens the relationships in families and I have seen that and am an example of that. And the knowledge that I can live forever with my family fills me with that hope that the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His gospel provides. I know and love that we have a prophet on the earth today, named Thomas S. Monson. I know that he receives revelation directly from God for us, and that if we listen to him, we will not go astray. That is just another way God shows His love for us. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that he truly did see God. I know that the true church was restored through him, and that he translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book, and that we can come closer to Christ through it than through any other book. This is the true church!

How I live my faith

I am a missionary serving in the San Bernardino, California area. Missionaries are ministers called of God to preach His word in a specific region of the world. This is a full time calling, so I devote this entire two-year period to serving God and the people in this area. Missionaries teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to all those willing to listen, as well as looking for opportunities to serve in any way we can. We try to strengthen the members of the church in the place we are serving by helping them become more active in their religion, and getting them excited about sharing the joy that the gospel brings them with others. There is a strange joy that comes from spreading the good news of Christ's restored gospel with those around us. The teachings and principles taught in the church bring us so much joy and peace, and we want to share that with as many people as we can. I have also served as a Sunday School teacher in the Young Single Adult branch in Midland, Texas. teaching people about the lessons in the Book of Mormon.
