Hi I'm Cari Winn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happy. I'm a wife and a mom of 4 little awesome boys. I love laughing, and baking--especially with my boys...and subsequently, eating what we bake. Sweets just call to me :). I'm not a great cook....one day maybe:), but dinner with my family is one of the highlights of my day. I love listening to the kids talk to each other, tell about their highs and lows, and tell lame jokes. It makes me smile. I love playing games! Sitting around the table with family and friends, talking and laughing, is one of the funnest things in the world to me. I love a good challenge-whether it be scuba diving, completing a sprint triathlon, or the Marine Mud Challenge (a 5 mile team race with 17 obstacles and lots of mud--so fun), repelling, teaching little kids gymnastics or karate, going off the free falls at water parks--AHH--love that, or trying to finish a book (without ignoring my responsibilities as a mother and wife)--I'm up for it. Life has so much to offer.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because...wow...it's hard to put into words--I'm just siting here smiling and my heart is pounding and my thoughts are screaming--because it's God's church, cause living it makes me overflow with happiness. Because I can teach it to my boys, knowing I'm giving them TRUTH and giving them a plan to live their lives by to make them happy now and forever. I'm a Mormon because EVERY area of my life is elevated and better because of it. I've tested the teachings. I've prayed to my Father. I've asked in sincere prayer if this church is His church; and I know, with all my heart and soul that it is. That this is where He wants me to be, and this is what will make me happy. I know that He loves me and every one of His children. I'm a Mormon because the teachings feel familiar, like I've been taught them before this life. I'm a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, and I want nothing less.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday and relish it. When I take the sacrament each week it reminds me of why I'm here on this Earth. It's crazy how fast we forget the most important questions during the craziness of our weeks--why am I even here? Where am I gong? How should I live in this moment. I'm reminded that I've made promises to be a witness of Jesus Christ and how I need to be actively serving Him. I live my faith by trying to be like Jesus more and more each week. Spending more time with my kids, showing more love towards my husband, reading my scriptures more, and acting on the revelation I receive from my Father in Heaven. For 2 hours a week I work with the little kids ages 18 months to 12 years old, they're separated into age groups but we get to teach them about God's plan for them through singing and lessons specifically for them. It's beautiful to be able to tell a child God loves them, and feel the truth of it. I prayer individually and with my family every day. We each talk about what we're thankful for and about things that have happened during the day that help us to know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are real. I'm so grateful to belong to a church that teaches me to be more like my Savior Jesus Christ and hope and pray that one day, I'll become who I need to be to live in His presence; surrounded by those I love. I know I can, if I live His teachings. YAY for the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
