Hi I'm Karen

Raised near Philadelphia, PA. A missionary serving in San Jose, CA. I love History, Reading and Photography. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am the second oldest child in a family of 7. My hometown is in the Philadelphia, PA area. I am currently a missionary for the church serving in the San Jose, California area. After my mission, I will study at Brigham Young University, UT to become a Genealogist. I read a lot and love taking pictures of moments that can never be replaced. The best days for me are when I get to spend time laughing with family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church my whole life. I grew up learning the Gospel but, I started to become truly converted when I finally understood that Jesus Christ lives and He atoned for me personally. When I read the entire Book of Mormon for the first time, Jesus Christ became my best friend. I realized that because I had faith in the Gospel, I was not afraid to face life's challenges. Whenever I had a trial I would pray to God for guidance and comfort. I have always found answers to my prayers when I asked. I know that this church in the only true church on this earth. I know that the Priesthood was restored through Joseph Smith. It IS God's power and it causes modern miracles.Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and I know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet of God on earth today. I know that God IS my Heavenly Father and He loves everyone. I know that the Book of Mormon IS Another Testament of Jesus Christ. My personal relationship with my Savior is the best thing I have. I love this Gospel and the happiness it brings to my life.

How I live my faith

I talk about my faith openly. I love sharing my beliefs with others of different faith and finding the common beliefs we share. I think it is important to support others trying to follow their beliefs in this world where following religion is often frowned upon. I try my hardest to follow God's commandments and when I struggle, I can start again because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I work to increase my knowledge of God and his plan for me by attending church and studying His word.

Are Mormons Christians?

Mormons are Christains. We are a Christ centered church. Our 1st article of faith, statements written to state our basic beliefs by Joseph Smith , states,"We believe in God the eternal father and in his son,Jesus Christ and in the Holly Ghost." We believe in the Bible and that is a book written all about Christ. We also belive in the Book of Mormon,"Another testament of Jesus Christ". We teach people the way to become like Christ and we all strive to be like Christ. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

We serve Mormons and nonmembers. We follow Jesus Christ and he served everyone. The Church donates a lot of money to those in need all over the world. When natural disasters happen, We go and try to help as many people as we can. It doesn't matter who they are or where they live, if they let us help them we will. I went to New York with other members after the Northeastern United States experienced Hurricane Sandy. I helped many families fix up their homes and none of them were Mormon. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries are called to teach about Jesus Christ. We share His gospel, that we have to have faith that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and through His Atonement we can be forgiven when we sin. We share about the Plan of Salvation, our Heavenly Father's plan for out life to help us return back to him after our time on earth. We share how your family can be together forever because the power of God, the Priesthood has been restored. Show more Show less
