Hi I'm Cindy Epperson

I'm a mother of nine children and I teach 6th grade. I have 2 missionaries currently serving in Alabama and Washington DC North.

About Me

I am the mother of nine children and currently 9 grandchildren. I teach 6th grade at a great school and I love it. I am currently working with the Laurels in the Young Women's program but I feel like I work with the Beehives also because of my job working with 11 and 12-year-olds. I love to read and play the piano. I have two missionaries serving in Alabama Birmingham, and Washington DC north. They both got their calls the same day and entered the MTC the same day. They are not twins. One of them just needed a little longer to get ready. I have two angel grandchildren who both died at birth. That experience has taught me a lot about the plan of salvation and the love the Lord has for us.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and I have always had a love for the gospel. I did have to find my own testimony and that search began when I was 18-years-old. I had several wonderful experiences as I prayed and read and searched for the knowledge of the truth for myself. I know that the gospel does bring us happiness and that by living the principle and keeping the commandments we will be happy. It scares me to see the power of Satan in our world today. Young people (and old) are trying to make excuses and many of them lack the commitment it takes to live the gospel. I fear that many believe that they can eat, drink and be merry today and then repent later. The Lord continues to give me strength and teach me. I know that my Savior lives. I have felt him standing right beside me many, many times in my life. I have seen the comfort and peace that comes from prayers and fasting. I know that our Heavenly Father knows each one of us and that if we let Him, He will guide and lead us to eternal life. I know that He speaks to prophets today and that they guide His church. I have had many experiences in my life that I could have easily given up on my faith or turned away from the Lord and felt like He didn't care about me. Instead I choose to turn towards Him and let His great love encompass me and protect me. I do not see everything that the Lord has planned for me but I see pieces of my life that have been put in place so that I can grow and be strong and help others along my way. I know that certain people have been put in my path to help me grow. When I think about people who do not have a belief in a loving God. A God who knows each one of us and loves us unconditionally it makes me sad. I do not know how they get through the trials of life and I don't know how they make plans for eternity. I am so grateful for my knowledge and my faith and all that the gospel brings to my life.

How I live my faith

I currently work with the youth in our ward. In particular the 16-18 year old girls. They are so vibrant and excited about life. They are very busy and sometimes they are not focused on the things they should be. I organize weekly activities that help build strong character and hopefully their faith. These activities can also be skills we can teach them.
