Hi I'm Joseph.

I'm a Mormon. I was baptized when I was 10 years old. I knew about this church when I was only five and I am grateful for it.

About Me

I love being with kids. I went to a hospital to do volunteery work. I also shaved my head bald for a good cause in collecting funds for the heart patients and a few organizations. It just makes me feel happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I started investigating the church when I was five. The missionaries were staying a few levels above ours in an apartment. My mom, my siblings and I were wondering why the missionaries were so young yet know a lot about the gospel. Besides, they were courageous and confident when bearing their testimonies. That was what caught my interest to continue investigating this church, to see what makes their faith and testimonies strong.

How I live my faith

I was a class monitor in elementary school, I was only seven that time. How was I selected as class monitor when the teacher haven't had the chance to know our personalities? On the first day of school, the girl sitting beside me puked, other students were laughing at her. Then i told them off, of course it was in a serious tone, but i wasn't yelling. That was how my teacher was impressed. Then when I turned eight, I became the school prefect. One day, my neighbour was in a small lane of the school when he was surrounded by a few big bullies. I happened to pass by that place during recess. A little afraid but I stood up to protect that friend of mine. Luckily those big bullies wasn't daring enough to harm me as they are not as violent as the high school boys. I was lost in Kings Park when I was ten. I closed my eyes and whispered to Heavenly Father in my heart. Then I heard a car honking. It was a guy who stopped his car so that I could cross the road. Then I was lucky enough after crossing the road when I saw my mom's friend. She brought me to my mom after that. Involvement in church, such as home-teaching, bearing testimonies during sacrament meetings, and my church callings helped me a lot. I was a youth class teacher in Sunday school. I also taught in the priesthood class. Being a teacher helped me a lot. I also went with the missionaries to visit the investigators' houses since I was fourteen.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Well, in church, mormons called each other brothers and sisters. With that, it always remind us that we are a big family that help each other. Mormons don't just only stretch their helping hands to Mormons. Mormons also help others who are not mormon. As an example, if you read about my experience under the topic "about me" and "how I live my faith", (these two topics can be found above in my profile), as Mormon, I have been helping others who have different believes. The Lord said feed my sheep if thou lovest me. Since we are all children of God, we should love and also help anyone, without having any discrimination or selfishness in ourselves. Therefore, no matter they belong to the church or not, we should help when we can. In my branch I grew up, we always visit the orphanage homes and the old folks home. The people there are not Mormons, but we enjoyed and love helping them. Missionaries around the world is one great example of Mormons helping people of different faiths. Show more Show less
