Hi I'm Brian

I'm a college football fan. I have a sweet tooth. I develop real estate. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Oregon with my wife and five children. I was a real estate lawyer now turned real estate developer. While I enjoy my profession and the opportunities it gives me to work with great people in the community, it is still a means to the end of supporting my family and serving others. I grew up playing sports, and I love watching college football and basketball--particularly the teams of Brigham Young University (where I went to school) and Oregon State University (where I grew up). Now the older, more-fragile me enjoys running and weights for fitness. I also appreciate good music, and I enjoy singing.

Why I am a Mormon

I seek God's truth, and I believe that the only way to know such truth is by asking Him in prayer. I grew up reading the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Both represent independent accounts that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. They both teach that Jesus Christ is the only way we can overcome our sins, imperfections, and even death in order to return to Heavenly Father. My parents taught these principles to me, but I desired to know for myself, personally, whether or not these accounts were true. Shortly before deciding to leave my home and family to be a missionary to share this message of Jesus Christ, I prayed to Heavenly Father asking that He confirm the truthfulness of these things. He answered me with undeniable peace in my heart and feelings of joy exceeding earthly emotion. I knew it was true, and He has confirmed such many, many times since. Today I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for all His children, that we return to be with Him and that we do so with our families. Only through Jesus Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection, as well as our faith in Him, is this eternal life possible. Jesus Christ established His church during his earthly ministry. He continues to lead that same church today through living prophets, who speak in His behalf. All seekers of truth may have a personal witness of these truths through God's Holy Spirit. I am a Mormon because I asked for such a witness and I did receive it. Jesus Christ invites all to do so.

How I live my faith

I live my faith first by nurturing a personal relationship with Heavenly Father by seeking daily to pray to Him and to receive inspiration from Him by reading the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and words of God's prophets today. I seek to teach my children about Heavenly Father's son, Jesus Christ, both by instruction and by example. I spent two years in Italy sharing the message of Christ's restored Gospel, and I seek to share that message still today with my friends and neighbors. Our church gives all its members opportunities to serve, all on a volunteer basis. Like many of our faith, I have served in a variety of roles, at different times serving children, youth, and adults. Currently, I am the bishop of our "ward" (our local congregation), which means I am the priesthood leader responsible for the spiritual and physical welfare of all members of the ward.
