Hi I'm Robin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter, a wife, a mother. I'm usually called Mom, because, as most moms know, being a mother takes up most of my time. I'm also called Honey by my honey. I have two teenagers. ( Don't tell them, but I think I like the teenage age best) One is in High School and the other is leaving for college this year. As a mom, I'm a chauffer, and a driver's ed teacher (scary occupation, that!). I'm an organizer, motivator, employer, budgeter, counselor, chef & short-order cook. Of course, I'm a teacher & I've been accused many times of being a lecturer. I'm available to give hugs and a listening ear 24 hours a day. I'm also a friend. I really enjoy spending time talking with my friends; and I enjoy spending time alone thinking, planning, and just relaxing with a book. I love visiting relatives, though we have to travel to do that. We live in the suburbs of D.C. Each day is busy. Each day is an opportunity for growth. I thank God for my life, my family, my faith, and all that we have, and all we can do.

Why I am a Mormon

My husband & I married without much thought of religion. We spoke of it once after we were married & I felt confused at the difference of our ideas. I said a prayer that night, asking if God existed, that my hsuband & I could learn of him/her. I felt it was important to begin praying in our home, and my husband agreed. Soon after that, missionaries knocked on our door. My husband invited them in. I hadn't attended church in years, even though I had been raised in the LDS church. As we talked with the missionaries, I felt a peace in my heart. I felt impressed to pray and to read the Book of Mormon. My husband & I would read it together & I would cry with the wonderful impression that I felt. I knew the things I read were true. I had my prayer, asking if God existed, answered. I know God lives. I know we have a Savior who died for us, who atoned for our sins, and who lead the way for us to follow.

How I live my faith

I work with and visit the sisters in our church. I enjoy having sisters over to have a luncheon at our house occasionally. We get together monthly to visit & encourage one another. Whenever someone needs meals taken in or just to talk problems over, we help one another. I teach lessons to the sisters on Sundays and help set up for a monthly mid-week ladies evening at the church. I also work in the Family History Center at church. I enjoy doing my own genealogy & at the FHC I can help others to learn how to research their own family history. Through God's power and mercy, we will have the opportunity to be with our families through eternity. We need to do our family history to get to know who our family members are. In the past, I've taught children in the church. I've also worked in the Media Center (Library). I think I've enjoyed every service I've been asked to do. Our church is a place to participate, to serve others. In service to others, we learn to love them as our Savior loves us.
