Hi I'm Chris

I'm a sports NUT. I love working with youth. I want to change lives. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying business and hoping to put it to good use in either the education or non-profit fields. Sports is not an interest but a passion, I learned to read as a child from the sports page in the local newspaper. Any sport, anytime, I am in. I also have a great appreciation for music, singing whenever I can and loving music of all genres, from opera to hip hop and everything in between. I enjoy cooking for other people, but end up eating out too often when it's just for me. I need to be around people, and love having opportunities to serve, whether it is my job as a mentor for youth in state-custody, singing at a retirement home each week, or volunteering for a camp that helps children of cancer patients, nothing brings me more joy. I have the best family anyone could ask for, with four older siblings who are all married off and have given me 11 nieces and nephews and counting. I embrace my role as the fun uncle. My dad has always been a rock and set a great example for me to follow. My incredible mom passed away 2 and a half years ago and her memory and legacy has been with me everyday since. She is my hero and I look forward to the day when I can be reunited with her, never to part again.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because being one has never led me astray! The gospel of Jesus Christ gives me meaning and purpose in my life. It gives me hope for better things to come. It has helped me to strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father and His Son, which makes all the difference in my life. I know I can get through difficult times because I know and can feel the love of my Heavenly Father and I know that He is always there for me and knows what I am going through. I know that because of what Jesus Christ suffered, I can find strength in him to overcome challenges, temptations, and tragedy and constantly improve myself. I am a Mormon because it has led me to greater peace and happiness. I don't know where I'd be in my life without it.

How I live my faith

I strive to live by a quote from Albert Einstein: "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile". I learned from my parents at an early age to help others, especially those who are less-fortunate than us, and especially to do things without being asked. This is a key principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Savior gave of himself so that others could be happier, and I strive to do even a small part of that in my life. I attend church meetings weekly and currently am leading the effort in my congregation to help more people learn about the gospel. Another way I live my faith is by trying to let the Lord guide my life and the big decisions that come while in college
