Hi I'm Jade Burt

I grew up in Logan, Utah, graduated as the valedictorian of my high school, am a stats major at USU,. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in North Logan, Utah and attend Utah State University where I am majoring in Statistics and Political Science. I recently got a call to serve in the Mexico Mexico City South Mission. I look forward to spending two years serving the people of Mexico. I presently work at the Space Dynamics Laboratory as a Business Assistant. I help edit proposal documents and assist with their business development efforts. One of my greatest interests is politics. I love following the political process and take a special interest in polling and statistical analysis. As a result, one of my favorite television shows (although no longer on the air) is The West Wing. I enjoy playing strategy-based board games (particularly ones that take significant amounts of time) like Risk, Diplomacy, and the Settlers of Catan. I also like to go hiking and camping in the mountains near my home. In high school, I was highly involved with our debate team and was the co-president my senior year. the four years I was on the team, we won the state championship each time. I graduated from high school in 2011 as the valedictorian and top scholar of my graduating class. I've always been gifted academically - most impressively learning to say the alphabet backwards when I was three and practicing basic multiplication when I was four.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to parents that had been sealed in the temple. I read the Book of Mormon for the first time in 2005 following President Hinckley's challenge to do so by the end of the year. That experience went a long way to building my testimony of the church. I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon as the most correct book on the Earth. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet that restored the gospel to the Earth through modern revelation. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and that Jesus Christ atoned for me in the Garden of Gethsemane. I know that through His atonement, i can be forgiven of my sins. I know that Heavenly Father is real and loves me. I'm excited to serve a mission and share these truths with other people. I'm also a Mormon because I understand that the Lord's church will be built on the principle of revelation - both personal revelation and revelation through a prophet. I know that we can recieve personal revelation through diligent scripture study or when we pray with a sincere desire to act. I'm truly grateful for a prophet who is authorized to receive revelation for all of the world directly from God. I know that as we follow his counsel, we will be blessed.

How I live my faith

I've held several callings in the church over the last few years. During my junior year of High School, I was the chairman of the stake youth committee. This committee helped to organize activities for over 400 teenagers including a stake youth conference where we did several hours of service cleaning up a city park, laying sod, and sanding the fence of the local LDS temple. More recently, I was the home teaching district leader and it was my reponsibility to determine which members of my home teaching group were being home taught. I always strive for 100% home teaching so I'm doing my part for the benefit of the ward. Aside from church callings, I always try to follow the example the savior set for me. I enjoy serving others when I can. I am an eagle scout and earned the church's young men's Duty to God award, both of which require great amounts of service and individual growth. Presently, I'm serving a 2-year mission in the Mexico Mexico City South Mission. I'm happy to give these two years to help serve my father in heaven and invite people to come unto Christ.
