Hi I'm Erin

I'm an adventurer. I'm a daughter of God. I love being happy. I'm a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Eastern Washington, which is a beautiful place, full of forests, rolling hills, rivers, and wheat fields. I've lived most of my life there, and I truly believe the Inland Northwest is one of the best places to live. What do I like to do? I love having adventures. I believe that you can find the adventure in just about anything. I love spending time with my amazing family and friends. I love singing, cooking, camping, learning, and being happy. (Also, laughing. I love laughing a LOT. If we can laugh together, then we are friends for sure.) When I'm alone, I love sitting curled up reading a good book. I am passionate about life, learning, thinking, and understanding - and I try to live life to the fullest. Last year, while I was studying English and Music at university, I came to a point where I needed some direction in my life. I prayed and asked God what to do, and at that moment I felt strongly I needed to serve a mission. I can't even tell you how inadequate and unprepared I felt, but I knew God had answered my prayer. After all He had done for me, I knew I could trust Him - and I knew this was the right path for me. So now, I'm a missionary - and I love it! Really, I do. It's the best thing I've ever, ever done. As a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I'll be spending 18 months doing full-time volunteer work and teaching people about Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

In high school, I had a chance to participate in "Early-Morning Seminary". What that means is, I got to get up every weekday morning and go to a 6am church class focused entirely on the scriptures. I attended for four years, and we studied the Bible (Old and New Testaments), the Book of Mormon, and the words of modern prophets. While I'd always liked the scriptures, through studying them I came to truly love them. I noticed that when I took a few minutes to read from the Book of Mormon every morning, I had a better day. It just went smoother. I was happier. I felt calmer and more at peace with myself. I couldn't explain it, but I said to myself, "Self, this book is pretty great. You better keep reading it." So I read it again, and again. Through reading it for myself, I came to know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know from reading the Bible and the Book of Mormon that they support each other in their message of Jesus Christ and the hope He offers. Why am I a Mormon? When I live the way the church teaches, I feel genuinely happy. When I turn to my Heavenly Father and follow His direction, I feel at peace. When I live the teachings of Jesus Christ, He helps me change. He has changed my life. He's helped me find true happiness -- not something that blows away in the wind, but something real and good and lasting. I know this gospel is true because when I live it, I can see the difference it makes. Anything this good must come from God. And that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Well, right now I'm serving a full-time mission. It's an incredible opportunity. I get to put everything on hold (school, work, dating, family, etc) and serve the Lord with all my heart. You may think it sounds a little crazy, but I can honestly say I've never been happier in my life. I know I'll never have this opportunity again, so I'm trying to use every moment the best way I can. It's hard to express in words how much I love doing missionary work. I'll be sad when it's over, but I will take as many lessons from this time as I can to be a better person throughout my life, no matter where life takes me. I know that if I trust my Father in Heaven and go where He leads me, wherever that is, things will turn out and I'll be better off for having followed Him -- always.
