Hi I'm Connor

Born and raised in Canada, living in Texas! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Canada and am currently living in Texas. I am going to college on a full ride scholarship after a two year mission with the church. Rowing: I started rowing in the 7th grade because honestly, I sucked at all other sports. I was a coxswain, a coach for novice/beginners, and I finished off high school in the stroke seat. Fiddling: I started playing the violin when I was six. I passed my grade 6 royal conservatory level and was playing grade 8 pieces. By the age of twelve though, I was fed up with the grind of classical training and desired something more fun, so I switched to fiddling! Writing: I wrote a book, it did well online with 1500 reads. Super amateurish stuff. Romantic comedy. Yeah, I'm a bit of a softie for romance. Gaming: With a steam account worth 1500$ and a guess that I have around 2000 hours combined in PC gaming alone, I think it's safe to say I was a bit obsessed. I run Ice Climbers in Melee and Jigglypuff in Brawl/Project M. Reading: R.A. Salvatore & Weis/Hickman rule fantasy. The Legend of Drizzt series and the Dragonlane series are the books of my childhood.

Why I am a Mormon

Everywhere you look for truth in the church you can find it. It can be difficult sometimes to remember that the faults of the church are the faults of man, not of God. In all things that do not go back directly to our Heavenly Father there is no error. The Book of Mormon, whether you are a scholar or an average person, has truth on every level. A church that teaches so much good and brings so much joy to those who are in contact with it cannot be false. I have tested my faith, everyone is converted at some point. The spirit of the lord that guides, directs, and comforts you is part of this church. A hole, an absence, is felt whenever I visit other churches, but here I feel love, peace, and happiness. I invite you to test your faith. Do not be scared to do it. In the LDS church, you can test your faith regularly and find truth around every corner. I bear my testimony that this church is the true restored church of God on earth. The Book of Mormon brings immense happiness into my life. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

How I live my faith

Community Work: I volunteer at a boy scout camp where I'll live there for 6 weeks as a counselor teaching the Wilderness Survival merit badge. This is around 650 hours a year during the months of July-August. I also volunteer at my local rowing club often so that I can help spread the joy that comes into my life through rowing, and I can give back to the boathouse that has provided the boats and the amazing facilities. Church Work: I realize that many of the younger youth look up to me. Recently I had a younger boy whom I didn't even know went to my congregation get sad when he heard that I was going to be leaving on a mission. So, just like Christ, I aim to show my faith and what the LDS church stands for by acting as a good example for those around me, whether at school, work, or just hanging out with friends. Things like refusing tea, coffee, alcohol, drugs, not swearing in my everyday language, being charitable and a ready friend, and inviting the less-popular regularly to church activities and normal outings shows what being a Mormon is all about to those around me.
