Hi I'm Oliver

I have a twin brother, I grew up in Brisbane Australia, I like pretty much everything and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Brisbane Australia in one of the best families ever! I am the youngest in my family with three older sisters, two older brothers and an identical twin who's just 7 mins older then I am. I love laughing, smiling and just living life in general! I love Basketball, Volleyball, any form of water sports and basically just any sport in general. At the moment I'm working as a missionary in the Japan Fukuoka Mission which has caused me to have to divide my heart between Australia and Japan.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that already attended church every week and so I grew up always going to church. As I started getting older and hitting middle school and high school I had a lot of friends who weren't 'Mormons' and asked a lot of different questions about what we believed and did. That's when I went through a kind of "logical understanding" phase. I began looking at the different beliefs and commandments that we are asked to follow and was able to see how following those commandments would keep you safe and make a person happier in life. This however wasn't and isn't enough to rely on when various trials and problems come up in life - for that I would need to understand it in my heart - I would need a testimony. I remember one night just feeling down after what seemed ever inadequacy surfaced in a few hours. I knew I had a loving family who love me and want to help me out. I knew the next day I would see all my friends and we'd have a great time but I needed something more at that time. I remembered all the lessons I had learnt from my parents and at church etc. about our Loving Heavenly Father who knew us perfectly and bring us hope, happiness and joy in times when we needed it. So I prayed. Almost immediately my heart was filled with feelings of love and comfort that were stronger then I had previously felt before with the distinct impression that I was never alone. Since then I have never once doubted that there is a father in heaven who loves each and every one of us more then we can understand. He loves us so much that he's given us commandments to keep us happy. He leads and guides us through old and current prophets and apostles. I love this gospel and everything it teaches us. It truly is the lords church on the Earth - and to me that's a pretty good reason to be Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently living my faith more then I ever have in my life as I serve as a missionary in Japan. Through preparation and planning for two years I've been granted the opportunity to focus on sharing our beliefs and my testimony of Jesus Christ every day without the distractions of work or school. I have grown to love the schedule we have as missionaries that allows us to study the gospel each day to deepen my understanding of the things that Jesus Christ has done to us and the things that he's asked each of us to do to secure the blessings he has waiting for us. I then get to talk to these amazing people in Japan and help them feel the same love that I've felt before!
