Hi I'm Katie

I am from California. I want to be an actress or director. The Book is Blue. The Church is True. So Read it! (; I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old and am going to college. I am a theater major and hope to be an actress in films. I am a production assistant for my father's production company. My hobbies are horseback riding, acting, and singing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised Mormon. Half my family is Mormon and the other half is not which makes things really hard. Even though I was raised in the Church, I didn't have a strong testimony until recently. I always went to church because I felt like I had to. In all honesty, growing up I didn't really like going to church because I felt obligated to go rather than actually WANTING to go. I always wanted to explore other religions because I felt that it was important to know and to be aware of what other people believed. With this attitude in mind I gradually became fully inactive from Mormonism my junior and senior year of high school. In those two years I did a lot of things (many things I regret), explored other religions, and went to other churches. It wasn't until the summer of 2011, that I began to give Mormonism a new look. It's funny because even though I was inactive, leaders in my church still gave me callings. I think it was their way of reaching out to me haha. Anyway, they gave me a calling in a Youth Conference, (which is a huge event for the youth in the Church), and I was called to be a "Big Sister," which basically made me a leader to the youth in my group. As I went to this Conference and participated in it, I looked around and saw how happy all of these kids were. These kids who were looking up to me to be their example as their youth leader, but in actuality, I was looking up to them. They were all so spirtiual, christ-like, happy, and honestly such great examples. After seeing and spending time with all of them, I just wanted to be more like them. I had two great friends in the church who shortly after the conference really encouraged me to go to all of these church activities with them, and so I did. They really helped me to be active again, and now I go to church because I WANT to and because after exploring other religions, there really is no religion like this one. This church is amazing and true and my testimony is unshakable.

How I live my faith

I am in a Singles Ward in my area. I go to church every Sunday and I have two callings. I am a Visiting Teacher and Co-Chairman of the Activities Committee for all ages in my Singles Ward. Basically, I help plan and organize events and activities for everyone in my ward. Being in a Singles Ward has really helped my testimony grow because there are sooo many people who are my age and who are going through the same challenges that I may be going through. Being in a Singles Ward has truly helped me stay active in church and I LOVE going to church now. Something that has helped me live my faith is by remembering that Heavenly Father wants me and everyone of his children to be happy, and he knows that what will make us happIEST is if we go to church, read our scriptures, and live by His example. I finally have found eternal happiness and it is through going to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
