Hi I'm Stephen Canaan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a music fanatic. Music has always been a huge part of my life, it runs in my blood. I love to think of music, I love to listen to music, and I love to create it. I have been deeply absorbed in the "musician" scene ever since I was a child. I learned piano and guitar as a kid and have been singing for as long as I can remember. Music is one of the few things in this world that can touch your heart in a matter of minutes or even seconds. One moment someone can be mad at the world or depressed and in a self absorbed state of mind, and then music can enter the picture and all your bitter thoughts will turn into joyous memorable moments. Beside music I love to hang out with my family and friends. They bring me so much joy. Some of my favorite moments and memories of life are combing friends, family and music. My brothers and I sing together and play music together and have been doing that since I was a young-in. I attend Utah Valley University, but am currently postponing that for 2 years to serve my fellow beings in the South. I love basketball! Even though I might not be to good at it, I still love it. I am a Utah Jazz fan all the way, even through all the tragedies...ha!

Why I am a Mormon

Have you ever been at a time in your life where a huge gap and void was right in the middle of all you did? Everyday you tried your hardest to be the best you could, but still something was missing, there was still that void in your life. I went through that same struggle at a point in my life thus far. That time in my life does not bring to my recollection the fondest of memories. I guess you could say though, THAT is why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because being a full church goer in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints makes me whole. It was not until I started regularly attending church, reading my scriptures, saying earnest and sincere prayers to my Father in Heaven, and living my life in harmony and in accordance to the teachings of the past and present prophets, that I started to feel whole. That was exactly what was missing in my "good, but not amazing" life. The void that was in my life started to fill up with amazing and spiritual experiences. In a short and abbreviated paragraph that is my reason for my religion. Don't just take my word for it, find out for yourself if the teachings of the Mormon church are true. Study and ponder what this faith has to offer you. I promise that if you do this, you will find an answer as I did a couple years ago. I promise that you will be eternally blessed, if you follow in faith The Church of Jesus Christ that has now been restored to this earth again in these latter days.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? I guess it comes down to what the Church is centered around. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is centered around Jesus Christ. Everything we do in the church brings us closer to Him, so I would have to say that trying to be like Jesus Christ and following all of His teachings is how I live my faith. Jesus Christ ALWAYS thought outwardly which is against human nature. So when I am trying to be like Jesus I try to think outwardly as he did, and I strive to forget myself. Serving others is a huge focus in the church. The church has a welfare program that tries to help out the needy as much as possible. The members of the church support this welfare program every month. Currently I am serving a "Mormon mission" in Mississippi and Louisiana. Everyday I try to serve people, and teach them to come unto Christ. This church is so focused on spreading joy and happiness to the world, that is why there are over 50,000 missionaries serving all over the world! Every single day I have a chance to live my faith. Instead of coming home from church on Sunday and putting what I've learned in a cold storage til next week, I can continually use and live what The Church of Jesus Christ teaches EVERY DAY! Living the teachings of this church every single day is how I live my faith, and I do so enjoy every moment and experience that comes from it.
