Hi I'm Kelsey

I love photography and art. I'm a college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

i love the outdoors. i enjoy hiking, swimming, camping, and other similar activities. i also love art and spending time with my family and friends. we always find wholesome ways of having fun no matter what our budget is. I grew up in California. When I was 16, my family moved to Buffalo, New York where I finished High School and prepared for college. I am a student at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I haven't really decided what to study yet but I'm looking into Elementary Education. I have struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts. I have been through a lot in my life and am still learning and growing in many ways. I plan to serve a mission after another semester of school. It is something that I have wanted to do ever since i was a little girl. I love this gospel with all of my heart and I want everyone to feel the peace, joy, and love that i have felt because of it.

Why I am a Mormon

i was born into the church. my parents have both been members their whole lives. i have always loved coming to activities and getting to know the people who have the same standards and beliefs that i do. i have had so many experiences that strengthened my testimony of this gospel and i don't know where i would be without it. being a Mormon has blessed me in so many ways. i have a great relationship with so many people in and out of the church that i never would have met if i wasn't a member. i have also been able to have a strong relationship with my family through living what i was taught from a young age. i love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and i wouldn't trade it for the world.

How I live my faith

my life hasn't been all that easy. i know there are people who have had it harder than me though. when i am having a hard time, it helps me to be able to help other people through their problems. i love being able to help and serve those around me. i may not be perfect but everyday i strive to be a better person than i was the day before. i slip up sometimes but i can repent and get back on the path of righteousness. i was the class president for the laurels (girls age 16-18) in my congregation. the girls come to me for advice and counsel as their president and i enjoy helping and representing them. i also represented the youth from my congregation by meeting with other representatives from other congregations in the area. this gives us a chance to serve on a larger level and to be examples when we have bigger activities. i am always willing to answer any questions to the best of my ability. if i can't answer the question myself then i will point you to someone who can. i want everyone to at least understand who we are and what we believe. i wont force you to believe it, just respect it and i will respect your beliefs.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Any Mormon can go into a temple if they stay worthy. The people that can't go in are the ones who have made mistakes in their lives or who haven't been living up to the commandments in a way to be allowed in. The things going on in the temple are not secret; they are sacred. We believe that they are so special that they should not be talked about in depth outside of the temple. I have not yet done all that I can do in the temple so there are things that I still have questions about pertaining to that as well. However, in time, i will be able to have all of those blessings if I keep living worthily of them. What I can say is that we do work for the dead in the temple. The temple is a place to unite families. We do baptisms and weddings by proxy for our ancestors. We believe that when we are married in the temple, it is for time and all eternity, not just "till death do you part". Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

No one is perfect. I wish I was but I'm not; no one is. having a Savior allows us to progress towards perfection. If I didn't have a Savior, there would be no way to be forgiven of my sins. He suffered in Gethsemane and gave his life so that I wouldn't have to suffer and so that I could be forgiven. I just have to go to Him. I have felt that influence countless times in my life as I allow His healing power in my life. he heals more than just the sins and mistakes. He heals the broken hearts and broken bones. He has made it possible for me to make it through the hardest of times. This is all possible because He is the Savior of the world. Show more Show less
