Hi I'm Daniel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in southern California. I am a college student studying Physics at Brigham Young University. I love running, playing trumpet (I’ve played for 6 years), and many types of music, from rock to jazz to techno. I enjoy reading books like Eragon and Harry Potter because I love stories of adventure and magic. I love video games like Super Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. I love seeing the world, either by marveling at the beauty of the Wasatch Mountains in Utah or the amazing precipices of Havasupai in Arizona or seeing new cities, I love it all. This past year was my first time being on my own as a freshman college student and it made me realize how much I enjoy independence but also how much I really love my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in a family that is Mormon and I was baptized when I was 8, but my real conversion was not until high school. I realized that my “testimony” was more based on what people had simply told me and less on what I had felt and experienced. I began to analyze what I really believed and honestly felt very depressed and lost. I had only known this Church and its doctrine, how could it be wrong? Without it, I felt like I had no idea where to turn. I began to be very skeptical and reanalyze everything I was taught. But as it says in Moroni 10:3-5, I had to ask God myself whether the Book of Mormon was truly an inspired text and whether what I had been taught all my life was actually true. I read and prayed and the answer came as the greatest feeling of peace and assurance that I have ever felt. What’s more is the friendliness and warmth that I feel being around honest people of this Church. The Gospel has brought comfort, purpose, and happiness to my life. It is for this reason that I want to share it with others in Honduras.

How I live my faith

As an Eagle Scout, I have directed a service project in which I restored a 16-ft tall tall dinosaur model. I am always willing to help out when someone needs help to move in/out of their house, or needs a ride somewhere. In my church, I have served as a leader for young men of my age, making assignments and watching out for my friends and peers. I have also served as a teacher in Sunday classes teaching about the Gospel. Right now I am serving the Lord by dedicating two years to being a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Honduras.
