Hi I'm Gary

I am a Grandpa that loves to hike with Grammy in the Mountains of Idaho. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Southeastern Idaho. I attended college in Phoenix Arizona, Albuquerque New Mexico, and Moscow Idaho. I have worked as an Electrical Engineer in Idaho Falls for 33 years. I have five children, nine grandchildren, and one heck of a wonderful wife named Carol (38 years and counting toward eternity). After spending many years at ballgames watching our kids participate, we are finally enjoying our empty nest. We spend every minute together in the solitude of the great outdoors. We enjoy hiking in the mountains of Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, and Utah. Just a warning: hiking can be habit forming! We often escape to the south when the Idaho winters keep us inside too long.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a wonderful Mormon family. The greatest gift my parents gave me was six sisters and two brothers. After going through some teen turmoil, I began to realize near the end of high school that I needed to focus on my future if I expected to have one. As I began to question the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, several experiences powerfully taught me that my "true" friends were my parents and siblings. As I seriously read the scriptures, I came to know that I also belong to a heavenly family with a Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. The sure knowledge of my Heavenly family was an anchor in my life when our oldest child, a daughter named Andrea, passed away in 1992 at the age of 15.

How I live my faith

Carol and I stay in close touch with our children and their families. We often share successes and disappointments that we encounter in life and often pray for each other. I have discovered the power of reading the scriptures daily. I feel closer to my Heavenly Father and feel I am more successful in living a Christ centered life. Sundays are different than the other days of the week. We attend church and focus on visiting others in our neighborhood or church congregation.
