Hi I'm Shayli Simmons

I work with autistic children. I am a current BYU Student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a current college student studying Elementary education. I love to be outdoors and being active. I am currently working 2 jobs and training for a half marathon. When I am not working I am reading or spending time getting to know the people around me. I love to go boating. I also love spending time with my family. On friday's I spend time with a group of Special Needs children and getting to feel of their spirits. I also worked with an organization known as ARC that helps children with specials needs. I also enjoy doodling. It is so much fun just to draw lines and squiggles and see it turn into some sort of picture. I just love having fun and enjoying life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is true. All of us spend our lives looking for something to make us happy and give us some sort of purpose in our lives. The gospel of Jesus Christ does this for me. Each day I can wake up with a smile on my face knowing that no matter what my day includes, it is all for my benefit and growth. I know that no matter where i live this gospel will be there same. THe support system of those in the church is just amazing. It is one big family. I also am a member because daily God provides me with tender mercies and little acts to show me that he is there and exists in my life in a loving way. I know that Joseph Smith saw God and his son. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that this life is not the end. There is more to come and that death does not mean the end. I know that families can be together forever through the ordinances and covenants made in the temple. The idea of being separated from those i love is so sad, but the truth is : i will not be separated from them. I will be with them forever. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and he atoned for my sins. Without him and his sacrifice i would be lost and not able to return home to my father in heaven. I know that he died and was resurrected. I am a Mormon, because I know it is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a disciple of jesus christ throughout my day. I also participate in my church calling. I have been asked to do several things. At one point i was the Temple coordinator. This meant that i scheduled times for my ward to go to the temple to do saving ordinances. Another time i was a primary teacher. This meant that I got to teach 6 and 7 year olds. It was such a joy to do. The kids were such bright lights. Another way i live my faith is through praying to my Heavenly father daily and reading scriptures such as the Bible and Book of Mormon. The way i live daily is the biggest way i live my faith. I do not swear or participate in vulgar things. I will not drink or do drugs. I choose to be modest in my dress. i choose to live each day full of integrity and want everyone who comes in contact with me to know they can trust me and count on me. I live each day in service.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Shayli Simmons
To increase our faith in Jesus Christ we need to be diligently doing all we can. This means that each day we need to be studying the scriptures and praying to Heavenly Father. By doing this we will learn more about what we are expected to do and become. We can know more about Jesus Christ and in turn come to have more faith in him. Sometimes i have learned that we need to just take a step out into the dark and have the hope that Jesus Christ is there and he did all that we say he did. By taking that step out into the dark we , through testing and guidance from on high, come to know for ourselves that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and that increases our faith.
