Hi I'm Colton

I grew up in California. I am preparing to serve a mission in Armenia and Georgia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Something that I've really enjoyed doing is playing guitar. Around 5 years ago, my brother got a guitar for Christmas, and he never played it. One day I found a DVD that taught guitar lessons, and so I grabbed his guitar, and have been playing ever since. Another thing I really enjoy doing is tinkering with computers. I actually plan on studying computer science after I return from my mission. After I got a computer my freshman year of high school, I don't think I have abandoned it for too long since. I ended up instilling that same desire into all my friends, and now they all have computers nicer than my own.

Why I am a Mormon

There are a few things that contribute to me finding Christ's restored church. A long time ago when my littlest brother was just a baby, he had RSV, which is a respiratory virus. My mom took him to the local hospital, but complications arose and their treatment wouldn't be enough to keep my brother alive. He then was flown to another hospital where he would have a better chance of surviving. My mom went with him on the flight, and prayed that if God would let my little brother live, that she would bring her family back to church. My little brother got better, and we have been going to church since. My final contributing factor to my testimony took place after my older brother left to serve his mission. I was 16 at the time, and knew that he had a testimony of the restored church, and I wanted one as well. I started to read the scriptures with intent, and began experimenting with the churches teachings. The results of my experiments and the Holy Ghost let me know I was in the right place.

How I live my faith

I help with cutting firewood for the people in the church that need it. My dad and I enjoy doing that. I help some of the older folks clean up their yard. My dad and I visit some of the families, and we give them a little lesson about gospel related things and make sure they don't need any help. I was able to help one family with a computer they had. They stored all of their pictures on one computer, but it eventually wouldn't start, so I helped them transfer their pictures on to their current computer. Occasionally, I will be asked to substitute for a youth class, and get to teach them. A bunch of people from church got together and helped clean up our local college. We repainted some of the road arrows, did raking and such, and we spread a bunch of sand on their soccer/football field. I also got to volunteer at a scout camp and cleaned up things there before scout camp actually started.
