Hi I'm Jim

I'm a singer and a composer of music and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy doing missionary work. I enjoy singing classical, popular music in the style of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. I have written over 40 songs in Spanish and English. Some of them have been played on the radio, Spanish and English stations. Once a month, I sing at a rest home with my friends. We are called the Three Amigos. I also like to sing in restaurants once in a while. I have a degree in Spanish and a masters degree in management-manpower administration. I have worked for the largest African-American organization as a field representative for vocational training centers. I have also worked for farm-worker programs and was given an award for helping many farm workers get the GED in Spanish version. I have been a public school and private school teacher. I worked for Sears for 9 and a half years as an in-store marketer and was the top appointment setter for home improvements four times in the United States.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it teaches me where I came from before I was born, why I am living here on earth, and what's in store for me after I die. The church has a prophet and twelve living apostles, as well as many other officials as described in the Bible in the book of Ephesians. I believe the original church that Jesus established went astray and changed simple teachings. Therefore, it was necessary to bring the church back to the earth in these last days. I believe the Lord did this through a living prophet, Joseph Smith. I believe there is a living prophet today named Thomas Monson. I believe the Lord cares about our health so He has given us a health code called the Word of Wisdom which helps us maintain good health by avoiding certain things that can destroy our bodies.

How I live my faith

I am a counselor for the local Spanish congregation. I visit families every month and try to help them with their problems. I go to church every Sunday and wrote a poem I'd like to share with you that talks about that. LAST WEEK Last week was hard I fell down twice Lost all my keys Didn't act very nice Oh, sure, I was sorry I prayed day and night But last week was hard And I did fall down twice It's Sunday again I'm here in Thy house Trying to learn With my children and spouse The bruises are healing The pain's almost gone They mercy and comfort Have moved me along Soon I'll be leaving To try once again This time much stronger This time I'll win Of course, I may fall Once or twice this next week But I have much more knowledge And several techniques I learned them in Thy house I thank Thee, my Friend I'll be back next Sunday I'll endure to the end.
