Hi I'm Steven

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Steven and I am trying to make it through college by working 3 jobs. I love adventures and meeting and learning about new people. I have too many interests to keep track of. I am a gymnast and have loved flipping since I can remember. I took first place as a level 10 tumbler in the 2009 National championship. I enjoy singing and reading. I enjoy all sports, especially gymnastics and soccer. And I am up to try new things whenever I get the chance. I like skydiving, paragliding, surfing, skiing, snowboarding, dancing, traveling, watching movies, exercising, cooking and eating. I am one of 8 children and I have wonderful parents. I am the second to youngest and like all younger siblings got picked on incessantly. My family is crazy and they're awesome. I have a dozen nieces and nephews and love playing with them. They are the best and funniest kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have chosen to be. I believe in Christ and I believe that God has called prophets. I have studied many things, both secular and religious. I have met so many wonderful people and I have been raised by the best parents anyone could ever want. They taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraged me to build my own relationship with God. I have read the Bible and I know it is God's word and I have read the Book of Mormon and I know it is also the word of God. I have lived according to the teachings of the Gospel and I have felt God's love for me. I know that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, atoned for my sins and I have felt the cleansing power and the joy that comes from living this Gospel. And I love to share it with all those that I meet. It has made me so happy and blessed me so much it would be selfish not to share. And after all of those things I have prayed to my Father in Heaven and He has told me that it is true. And because He has told me, I cannot deny it. I have chosen to do what God has told me and to follow the example of His Son. I am a Mormon because I know it is true.

How I live my faith

I simply try to be a good person. Growing up I was very shy and didn't feel comfortable putting myself out there or making new friends. Through good friends and God's help I was able to grow and to be more confident and began to try new things and to talk to people more. I began to learn more about other people and their stories fascinated me. Some things I could relate to and some things were completely foreign but from each one of these people I learned something. I learned that every one is awesome at something and that everyone struggles with different things as well. Some of those people thanked me later for listening to them or offering a smile. Or simply by being there when they needed someone and I began to see what God meant when He said, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I tried to be more open to see who needed a hand or who was sitting by themselves. And when I found them and felt like I should do something, I tried to be brave and act on it. Sometimes it is difficult to do something good for someone you don't know. Sometimes others will make fun because sometimes the good thing to do might be awkward, unpopular, or just a little different. But that was the way Christ lived. He always took the time to help just that one person, He was the most good of anyone and I am striving to become like Him. He would stop to help the one, and I will try to do the same.
