Hi I'm Mike

I am a mixed martial artist, trail runner, adventurer, husband and father and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I train and teach mixed martial arts (I have also competed professionally) I do nutrition work, personal training and love to cook. I eat a whole food plant based diet (essentially vegan) and I love getting outdoors and active with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a household devoid of religion. As I went through my teens and early twenties I was always interested in religion. My only exposure to the church was the commercials as a kid. When I had the opportunity to join a friend at church I accepted. I had always been open to learning about new religions. To me this was not much more than an interesting thing to check out. From there I met the missionaries. I had a lot of questions in regards to Christ and Christianity. Things that never made sense to me and were barriers to me believing in Christ. They had me read parts of the Book of Mormon and pray about it. When I heard about Moroni's challenge to pray to know the truthfulness of the gospel, I did just that. I prayed for a sign. I asked for a real sign, clear and plain. I didn't want something that was interpretive, or vague, or could be made to fit. From there I immediately opened the scriptures to a random page. The first scripture I read was Alma 30:44, Thou has had signs enough. From that moment my life changed forever. For the better would be an understatement.

How I live my faith

Currently I teach Sunday school to the 16/17 year old youth, and I am the young men secretary. That means I help out the youth in their gospel journey, as well as how it affects their lives. I love the opportunities I get to speak, teach and share at church. I'm not one of those that gets nervous about speaking in front of people. I also love to go out with the missionaries to meet and talk with investigators. Seeing people come to Christ is one of the most rewarding things I have experienced.
