Hi I'm Kimberly Thurman

I'm fun, I like sports, I make people laugh, I love the outdoors, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love having fun! Being around friends, acting goofy at times and pulling pranks makes my life amazing. I was born in a small town in Indiana. Although I am currently living in Pittsburgh which is so awesome. I'm the youngest of five kids! Yep five :) one brother and three sisters haha, it was always interesting growing up with us! Out of all my siblings I was the one out of them all to shall I say ... get into the most accidents or mischief. I have always been a clutz or have had things happen to me. For instance I was the first in my family to break a bone, get hit by a car while riding my bike, ect. However I have managed to always make it through and enjoy my life, Even at the most trying times. I have learned so much in my life and am always learning more. My parents, siblings, teachers, and friends helped make me into the person I am today, I am so grateful and blessed for their influence in my life. I have and am still attending college in order to get my degree in sociology with a minor in history. Eventually, I would love to become a college professor and share my knowledge with others. Being outdoors, playing sports, singing, watching movies, reading, and cooking are some of my favorite hobbies in life. Take those away and I might not be as pleasant :) haha just kidding. I do need those though in order to relieve the stresses of the day! To sum me up in a nut shell " I am clutzy, funny, goofy, caring, joyful, and really enjoy my life and what god has given me in it

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in the church. However that is not the whole reason why I am Mormon. When I turned eight I chose to be baptized in the church. Although at my young age I knew the church was different even then by how I felt. I however did not know the full truthfulness of the church until later in my life. While growing up in the church, I never had my own testimony because I had never really prayed to know that the church was true. I can't remember my exact age but I was in my early teens when I found out for my self. I went out one day for a bike ride and brought my backpack to carry my water bottles. When I took a break at a local park, in order to get a drink I noticed my scriptures. I took them out and began to read. After reading for awhile I had a strong feeling that I needed to ask god if the church was true. I sat there for a long time praying and asking heavenly father to know of the truthfulness of the church. After praying I jumped on my bike and headed home. I was halfway home when I felt an overwhelming peace, warmth, comfort, and love come over me. It overwhelmed me so much I had to stop. I knew from that moment that the church was true. The rest of the way home I felt of gods love for me and knew the church is the true church upon this earth. Being a Mormon and in the church has blessed my life in so many ways. It is not saying that we are not going to have struggles in our life, trust me I still have struggles. However, as we rely on heavenly father and his son Jesus Christ we will be able to overcome those obstacles. I know with all my heart that this is god's true church. I am so grateful for that day the Holy Ghost gave me the impression to read and pray about the church. I know that as long as we pray and feast upon the words of Christ our lives will be much better because of it.

How I live my faith

There have been alot of trials in my life that I have had to overcome. Some of which really tested and tried my faith in every way possible! Most of them being within the past couple of months. At first when I was hit with these challenges I felt as though I was helpless. As if I could not face these things or overcome them. The struggles that I was faced with really consumed me. Until I started to pray, read my scriptures, attend church every sunday and go out with the missionaries on team ups. Although the trials were still there and were really hard, the difficulty getting through them was eased. By praying and living gods commandments it gave me the faith and strength that I needed to get through some of the biggest trials in my life. I live my faith by staying close to heavenly father as much as I can. I know that he is there for us always. One thing that has also helped my faith is something that a friend once told me. To PUSH! You might be thinking push? What like push through your challenges or trials! Well yeah that would be a good answer for the word, but there is another meaning that my friend brought to my attention. It's what the letters actually stand for, which is "Pray until Something Happens." I know without a doubt that doing this it helps strengthen your faith because it did with me. One other way that I live my faith is by staying true to my belief in Christ. Heavenly father is there, he helps us every day even if it is by the smallest thing. By being obedient to him we are blessed. There is a primary song that I really love about faith and a part of it says " faith is like a little seed if planted it will grow" If you think of faith like a seed that we plant in us we can nourish it by doing what heavenly father commands of us to do. I try to live my faith every day and by doing so it makes my faith not only grow but brings me closer to my heavenly father.
