Hi I'm Hillary

I'm a wife, mother of five, singer, songwriter, actor, music teacher, musician, diet coach, webmaster and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a large musical family with six sisters and two brothers. When I was three we lived in South Lake Tahoe California but my older brother was sick and that led us to Arizona where he would be able to go to school and get better care. I love music! I was the two time National Choral Student of the Year in 1995 and 1996 and an actor with roles as Eve The Apple Tree, Eponine Les Miserables, Mrs. Abernathy Guys and Dolls, and many other non-musical stage plays. I went to Brigham Young University, found an adorable husband and was coached by musical greats such as Mack Wilberg and Clayne Robinson. I later founded and operated the Hillmin School of Music where I taught lessons and ran a recording studio. I directed Michael McLean's Forgotten Carol's choir in 2001. I was a high school choir teacher in AZ for several years and was later a grantwriter and webmaster for Sequoia Schools. I am currently busy being a mom and I love it more than any other endeavor I've pursued. We now have five amazing children. I have written music for several YM/YW annual themes and ward/stake functions. I was blessed to have the opportunity to sing in and record Rob Gardner's work "The Lamb of God" featuring the London Symphony Orchestra and will be recording more of Rob's works with the Spire Chorus. I also continue to record and teach music students in our home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon and have known from a very young age that the church is true. I remember very early memories of testing the gospel principles of faith, repentance and prayer and those experiences have built my testimony to this day. There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World and of me personally. I know He and our Father in Heaven love me. I continue to live the way I know to be right. I daily push the things I know to be wrong out of my life and slowly make my way back to him with my family. I am grateful for eternal families. My older brother died when I was young and my steadfast mother very recenly passed away. I know how I need to live to have the chance to be with those special individuals again and my husband and children whom I love dearly.

How I live my faith

I love serving in my church. I was recently able to go to girl's camp for one of my callings and I had such a wonderful experience sharing my testimony through my talents with those incredible girls. I got to do night programs, sing and play the guitar....All the stuff I love. It was also cool to hear so many girls singing one of the songs I had composed. I love primary too. I was in a primary presidency for many years which means I was able to teach and help the small children grow and understand the gospel through lessons and activities. Those children are so special to me. I am now a Webelos Leader and the Choir Director/Music Chairperson. We have a beautiful choir and I am so blessed to be asssociated with such talented musicians every week. Through each calling I have had in the church, I have had experiences that I know were just for me. They have helped me grow in very specific ways. I know the Lord knows me and places me where I can not only best serve others but where I can best grow into what He wants me to be.
