Hi I'm Jessica

I am a student at Urbana High, I'm a swimmer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Urbana Maryland and I love to swim. I also enjoy traveling, reading, sewing, cooking, and spending time with friends. I have an older brother, a younger sister, and a crazy little brother. Sometimes, things can get a little crazy at my house with him around. I speak Spanish, English, and American sign language. I have lived in six different states so far, and may be going on seven pretty soon. My favourite colour is white and I love the beach. One day, I want to go to BYU and the University of Michigan and become a prosecuting attorney or a school teacher. But more than anything, I want to be a really good mom. I have an amazing mom whom I love and adore and I want to become more like her as I grow older. I love the San Diego temple and I hope to be able to visit there some day.

Why I am a Mormon

Most people say that the Mormon religion just makes sense. And it does. That is probably my favourite part about it. Not only does it make sense, but the things we learn can be confirmed until we know without a doubt they are true. Being a mormon helps me feel like I really have a place in this world. It gives life a purpose. We, as inhabitants of the twenty-firsy century, are a chosen generation. We have been selected exclusively to be placed on this Earth at this specific time because God knows we have the true potential to fulfill the mission that needs to be done in these latter days. My ancestors sacrificed so much to raise their family in the gospel, and I want to carry out the work that they started for future generations. Being a mormon has definitely blessed my life, and so many others. I believe that everyone deserves the chance to experience the truth and blessings this gospel has in store. Living the mormon religion has strengthened my family, increased my love for others, given me a brighter future, and has ultimately made me a better person. I know that by trusting in the Lord, our burdens will be lifted, our weaknesses can become our strengths, and we will be blessed. Jesus Christ is our Saviour and Redeemer, and through Him, we can become clean again. I know that Jesus and the Father are the only people who will always be there for us. Jesus Christ is our older brother, and He has set the perfect example for us to follow. When we do follow His example, we will never be lost. He will never lead us astray. Jesus knows exactly what we are going through because He felt all of our pain, all at once. And I believe He was the only person who has what it takes. I know that He was perfect so that we don't have to be. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that we are all exactly where we are meant to be, to fulfill some purpose, whatever it may be. I absolutely know that Heavenly Father and Jesus love me dearly, and I feel their love every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the standards that have been set by the latter day prophet on this Earth today. These standards are found in the "For the Strength of Youth" pamphlet or at https://www.lds.org/youth/for-the-strength-of-youth?lang=eng . These standards outline the importance of avoiding potentially harmful things such as early dating, alcohol or drug consumption, unclean media, foul language, inappropriate dancing, immodest clothing, and pornography. It also explains why we value such things as friendship, family, cleanliness, gratitude, education, agency, honesty, health, service, sexual purity, and tithes or offerings. I also try my best to pray to my Heavenly Father everyday, read the Bible and Book of Mormon often, and attend church and church activities on Sundays and when otherwise provided. One thing I personally try to do is to look for ways that I can either serve others or share the gospel in even the simplest of forms everyday. I do these things because I believe when we do, our lives will truly be blessed and it will have a great impact upon us.
