Hi I'm JP

I'm a college student studying music education. I play the trombone and I sing. I am currently a missionary in Indiana.

About Me

I am a college student and currently studying Music Education with an emphasis on the trombone. I also love to sing and do outdoors activities, Primarily sports. I love to play and watch baseball. I also love to do foam-smithing, which is making foam weapons to spar with, and sparring with my friends. I involve myself in the community as much as possible primarily by volunteering at the schools and helping with community service projects. I am an Eagle scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Lastly I love to spend time with my family. I love to go on bike rides and spend time at the park with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and at one point myself questioned whether or not it was true. I went to seminary still and through a loving seminary teachers guidance I was able to gain the courage and desire to pray and ask whether or not this was the true church. I then prayed harder then I had ever prayed before and received a calming feeling that confirmed to me that the church is truly Christs church. I have a strong testimony of that and also of Jesus Christs paying the price for our sins so that we may be able to be cleansed from them. I have made mistakes some more serious then others, but one time when I had truly repented and come to know that I was forgiven I couldn't hold myself back from tears the feeling was so overwhelming. I know that this is the true church and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving the community and trying to follow in Jesus Christs example of being charitable to all people. I also share my faith with family and friends, and am currently serving a mission for the church. I try to help other people receive joy by inviting them to follow in Christs example.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a witness that we receive about the truth of the things which we are told. It is similar to a testimony in a court room during a trial, it is something to give confirmation of what really happened. We can receive a testimony from the Holy Ghost about the church if we will be willing to read the Book of Mormon, and pray about it with a sincere heart and real intent. This is something that will help us to receive a confirmed witness that Jesus is the Christ and that he lives, and that he has called Joseph Smith to be his prophet in these latter days.
