Hi I'm Missy

I am a stay-at-home mom, play the piano, a big reader, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a master's degree in Recreation Management. I worked for the Navy for a semester, planning events for sailors & their families. I have three children, and a great husband. I met my husband while we were in college. I love to play the piano and organ. I sew and make crafts. I love to decorate our home for different holidays. I enjoy reading blogs, and try to keep up-to-date on my own, but it doesn't always happen as often as I would like. I really enjoy making cupcakes and decorating cakes. I love to read, and have been reading a lot of classic books in the past few months. Country music is my favorite, although I enjoy listening to a little it of everything. I love to dance, and enjoyed taking several dance classes in college. We have moved a lot since being married - this is our third state & our seventh move altogether. We are now first-time homeowners, looking forward to making this house our own. I am also trying to save up money for a nice camera, since my old one is not loading film correctly anymore (and it'd be nice to start using a digital one). My oldest just missed the deadline for starting kindergarten this year, so I'm trying my hand at homeschooling - if we find that we don't enjoy it, then we probably won't continue, but so far I am really enjoying it.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel. My main goal in life is to be happy, and the gospel is truly a plan of happiness. There are so many things in this life that can be discouraging, but the gospel shines through those and offers peace even in the midst of trial. I have felt the Spirit's influence in my life many times, and I know that the Church it true. I have of course had struggles that have led me to doubt my testimony, but there is no way that I can deny the truthfulness that I've found here. I know that the prophet leads and guides this church, and it's a comfort to me to know that by listening to his council I am following the right.

How I live my faith

I have served in many different callings/assignments in the church. I have taught classes, led groups of women and youth, and organized weekly activities for young single adults. No matter the role, I have always found something to enjoy and to look forward to as I serve the Lord and members of the congregation.
