Hi I'm Jake

I am from UT and am now serving a mission The Pittsburgh PA Mission and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a Family of 5, I am the oldest of three siblings and I love being the oldest! It is so fun and also Hard at the same time to be the oldest. I love Golfing, Skiing, Fishing, Exercising, Video Gaming, Running, and best of all FOOTBALL! I am currently serving a LDS Mission in Pittsburgh PA and as it turns out the Stealers are my favorite team! I will finish my Mission in September 2012 and Plan to go to college at Southern Utah University and I am shooting for becoming a Physicians Assistant. I love everything about the Medical field and hope that it will be a good area for me to go into. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and love meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I Simply followed the Invitation to Read the Book of Mormon and Pray about it. This story starts when I was young. My Parents, Grandparents, and even Great-Grandparents were all members of the Church of Jesus Christ. So I did grow up in the Religion and I always liked it growing up. As I got older I stayed Active in the Church but maybe not so active in the Gospel itself. I didn't always make the best Choices growing up but I tried to do the best I could. My senior year came around and in that year I decided I really wanted to know if this church was true for myself. I started reading and praying about the Book of Mormon and every day I read, I noticed my day went so much better and I was so much Happier. I also wanted to serve a mission and while reading the Book of Mormon I got a spiritual Confirmation that I needed to. In the Missionary Training Center I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time and just felt so much peace and a gentle burning inside of me and I knew it was True! While on my mission my Testimony in the Gospel of Jesus Christ has grown so much and I know without a shadow of the Doubt that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God and that this is His Church and There is no other place I would rather be than in His Church!

How I live my faith

Well right now being a missionary the Gospel is most if not all that I focus my life on. I wake up in the Morning and have my personal study and then I study with my Mission Companion and then study some Spanish. I then continue with the rest of the day preaching and serving to the people around me and trying to love them as Jesus Christ would. I go out and make visits to those who may be having trials and struggles and do my best to help in whatever way I can.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Jake
Being a missionary, we are encouraged to help anyone in need of assistance. For Example we did a rather large service project in East Pittsburgh and we had a blast! We have helped clean up different spots of the city and are working on beautifying it. We also will ask anyone, Member or Non-Member if they need any help from us and we do it if we can. I love helping and serving others it makes me feel so good inside. I think the best way to answer this questions of do we only help Mormons is to look at the Life of Jesus Christ. We can see that he helped all who were in need, and did not discriminate. Since the Church of Jesus Christ follow the teaching of Christ we do indeed help all who we possibly can. Show more Show less
