Hi I'm David

I am a retired elementary school teacher, father of seven children, a veteran, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Hurricane, Utah in a wonderful family of 8 children. Growing up I enjoyed playing basketball and softball and loved playing in the school band. After graduating from college, I taught in an elementary school for many years. It gave me pleasure to see young children obtain the light that came from understanding something for the first time. After retiring from public education I served as a private school administrator and instructor of religious studies and constitutional education. I have been an instructor in the reading field, teaching others how to increase their reading speed and comprehension. I have been active in my church, serving as teacher, working in Scouting, singing in the church choir and leading music. I served in a significant number of other church responsibilities. I am currently serving a mission for the church with my wife and love to meet all of the wonderful people in our area. I love life and its challenges.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the privilege of being raised in the church by parents who loved the Lord. I was taught at an early age that Jesus Christ was the Savior of the world, and that I could find out for myself that this was the truth. It took me some time, and prayerful meditation, but I have come to know that God really does live, and Jesus really did make it possible for me to return to God! I love my Savior and know Him to be my personal Savior and Redeemer. I am so grateful for that knowledge. It has been a blessing for me to be able to know these things. I know that when Christ was on the earth he chose men to serve with him as his Apostles, and I know that there are Apostles and Prophets alive today, who lead, guide and direct us in today's affairs. It is a privilege to be able to serve Heavenly Father's children, and I am enjoying that to a great degree today.

How I live my faith

During my life time, I have had the privilege of serving the Lord in many different ways. I have worked with the young men in the church, helping them to learn how to serve the Lord. I have had the wonderful experience of being able to tell people in foreign lands about my beliefs, and it was a tremendous blessing to me. I have served as a teacher for those just learning about the doctrines of Christ, and also for those who have been members for many years. Teaching has been great blessing in my life. I have served in a number of leadership capacities. I have been a "home teacher" since I was 14, and have loved going into other members homes to visit and comfort them. That has enabled me to help bless them in their times of trouble, and celebrate with them in times of joy. The greatest joy I have had is marrying a very special woman who has blessed our lives with 7 children. They have grown up and married. Many of them have children of their own, and they are walking in the ways of righteousness. They have given my sweetheart and me 20 grandchildren, with 3 more expected this year. Seeing them living lives that honor the Lord brings us great happiness. The blessings that come from trying to live the way the Savior would have you live is beyond price.
