Hi I'm Sam

I'm cool like an autumn morning and daring like a squirrel on electrical wire. I am Sam, the Mormon Man.

About Me

I'm a student at Utah State University studying Music Education. I've played the trumpet since I was 10 and I've grown to love it more with each passing year. I've had opportunities to help teach and lead groups and individuals through my involvement with my high school marching band and the local elementary. I've always been very interested in science and religion, and I find beauty and truth in both. I'm the oldest of 5 kids and the oldest of my 18 first cousins. I am a trailblazer and it's shaped me to be a driven and active guy. I was a Boy Scout and I learned many valuable lessons and above all, a love for nature. I look at every day as an opportunity to make a positive change in someone's life. I am now serving as a full-time missionary for the LDS Church in the Idaho Boise Mission. I feel satisfied and full of joy when I get the opportunity to share the gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ! It truly is exciting when the message I bear changes a person's of family's life for the better. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and I invite everyone to read it to know of its truth!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for very simple reasons: the gospel principles make sense to me, I feel the love of Heavenly Father when I read the scriptures and attend church meetings, and I've seen the change in peoples' lives because of the gospel. I love the fellowship I have felt. Reading the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, has brought me closer to God than I could ever hope for. The best thing about being a Mormon is that I get to help others find the joy I know for themselves! I have prayed to my Heavenly Father to tell me if the Book of Mormon is true and I received a resounding "YES"! I know that each and every one of us can have that same experience if we just take the time to sit down and prayerfully, thoughtfully, read the Book of Mormon and pray to our Heavenly Father to know if what we read is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be like Jesus Christ. He set the perfect example for how to live on this crazy earth we all find ourselves in. I try to do my part as a son, brother, young man, and priesthood holder. One cool thing about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that it's Christ's Church! As in, it is perfectly organized to perfectly assist its members to lead Christlike lives. Going to church and occasionally even speaking about the gospel in front of the whole congregation has really prepared me to be a good Christian and a good man. To me, being Christian is more than passively believing. Christ told the Apostles (and all of us) to follow him. Follow is an action verb! I try everyday to talk to someone I wouldn't normally talk to, and provide an act of service for someone! We aren't expected to be perfect, but God expects us to try. That's why Christ's grace is so important! We will always fall short of God's glory by ourselves, by through the help of the Lord, everything is possible! Have faith in God and love one another as he has loved you!
